Welcome to The Fox Den @ The 258! Located 10 minutes from downtown Farmville, VA on 258 acres - direct access to the High Bridge Trail State Park. Only minutes away from the colleges of Longwood & Hampton Sydney, Greenfront Furniture, Sandy River Reservoir, Sandy River Outdoor Adventure Park & Distillery, Saylors Battlefield State Park, 5 Miles to the High Bridge. Newly Renovated in 2023 - Fully Stocked, Amazing Kitchen, Outdoor Firepit w/Solo Stove.

The space

The cottage has just been completely renovated and stocked for the ultimate getaway.

*Enjoy the large, covered, front porch with twin size hanging porch swing to curl up with a book or take the ultimate outdoor nap. There are two other porch chairs with ottomans and side tables.

*The covered side porch, which can be accessed from Bedroom #2, has two relaxing Adirondack chairs that look over the old Paradise Apple tree.

*Kitchen - WOW! Fully stocked kitchen with upscale appliances, Kutch gas stove, quartz counters, fireclay sink, amazing backsplash, open shelving, window seat and a wood dining table that folds out to create a larger table. All cooking supplies are available including spices, oil, sugar, flour and much more! Electric kettle, blender, toaster, mini waffle maker, coffee maker with all coffee supplies (creamers, sugar, sweeteners, coffee).

*Sectional sofa, ottoman, large flat screen tv on a farmhouse tv stand that has an electric fireplace, round chair, games, books, the perfect place to relax and unwind.

*Two bedrooms, each with a king size bed, night stands on both sides of the bed with lights, charging stations, small fans in the nightstand drawer, sound machine in each room, open closet system with shelves.

*Bathroom with hardwood floors, artistic Kohler sink with quartz counter, lighted makeup mirror, subway tile shower with glass shower door, bottled shampoo, conditioner and soaps provided (please leave for the next guest).

*Washer/Dryer - located in the bathroom with pods and fabric softener sheets.

*Outdoor Solo Stove Fire-pit area with Adirondack chairs and bench seating. Beautiful setting overlooking the open fields and woods.

*Grill area outside of the kitchen door access. Propane Gas Grill with table for all your grilling needs!

The cottage is located on 258 acres. The property is used by our family at certain times for off road motorcycle riding and horseback riding. If you are staying at our property and we are out there riding we will not be anywhere near the cottage but down the road and out of site. Just be aware that we might be on the property during your stay.

Guest access

During the winter you can access the property trails but we ask that you wear one of the orange vests provided for your use. The best trail to use is the High Bridge Trail that goes thru Rice, VA and onto the actual High Bridge. Take a left on the High Bridge Trail and it is 5 miles to the High Bridge and the Appomattox River and 10 miles to Farmville.

Other things to note

The cottage is located on 258 acres. The property is used by our family at certain times for off road motorcycle riding and horseback riding. If you are staying at our property and we are out there riding we will not be anywhere near the cottage but down the driveway towards the creek and out of site. Just be aware that we might be on the property during your stay.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned cottage, which features a fireplace and a Smart TV. Conveniences include a microwave and a washing machine.

By far, one of the best vrbo properties we've rented! Place was squeaky clean and owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and at home. Added touches included snacks, all linens and towels, fully stocked kitchen, toiletries, robes and cute decor. Property was as described. Very clean inside and out ( no pollen on outside furniture) and nicely decorated with a fox theme. Cottage well laid out with a good use of space. Well supplied with anything you may need. Good assortment of spices, teas and coffees. Even had ziplock bags and plastic food storage containers. Plenty of towels and extra blankets. Beds very comfortable. Even had puzzles, games, DVD"s and records. Great selection of dishes and pots and pans. Walking distance to High Bridge State Park. Would definitely stay here again. We had an amazing stay at the Fox Den cottage! So private on beautiful acreage for peaceful hikes and early morning coffee time on porch rockers and swing! The beds and sofas are so comfortable! We loved the indoor electric fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Our host thought of everything we would need !! We loved the fox theme and will always remember this very special gem in Rice Virginia!! It was very hard to leave!

Cozy, updated and stylish with ALL the comforts of home plus many things you may have forgotten or didn’t think you might need (nail clippers, zip lock bags, Tupperware, makeup remover). Quiet area w many trails for walking on property, High Bridge trail for biking literally crosses the driveway. Host were attentive and responsive in providing check in and check out instructions and available if needed and yet absent as well. Beautiful place to unplug and recharge and be active or reflective. The fox theme and accents and decor—amazing! Comfortable beds, warm blankets available, safety vests for walking, A home reflecting the heart of a caring host family. A place to come back to, over and over!

We rented this cabin for our daughter and her husband for a few days after their wedding. This is her review: The second we entered, right after our wedding, my new husband and I had everything we needed. From cold water in the fridge and snacks on the table, cozy blankets galore and a warm fireplace to rest in front of. The best part was the swing on the porch, where we sat while watching it snow. There are plenty of just-in-case items. Though it is small, anything bigger would not have felt as warm and relaxing. We could not find a single thing we did not like about this cabin. BY FAR, this cabin was perfect for our mini-moon, and we plan to come back.

Anniversary Weekend Getaway

We love this property, it is so quiet and peaceful We love the cottage and the hiking/walking that is all on site. The house is warm and inviting, decorated with farmhouse chic style. This is our second time and we came more prepared to not have to leave at all during our stay. We love napping on the porch and star gazing by the fire pit. Nicole and family are amazing hosts, making sure we have everything we need and more. We hope to go back in the fall.

Absolute Gem!! So peaceful and beautiful! Will stay again!

I cannot say enough about this property, the inside is stunning and loved all the details. Nicole made sure we had everything we needed and more. The outside property is vast, we walked and hiked twice a day. The road that goes up the hill allows easy access to the top of the trail. You can venture off on the side trails which lead you back to the main. We packed our snacks and food so we could fully take in this beautiful property. This place is gorgeous and the porch, wow loved the rocking chairs and swing, morning coffee view. Beautiful, Beautiful!!! We are already planning to come back. Thanks again Nicole for everything!

A wonderful escape to The Fox Den!

We had a wonderful stay at Nicole‘s property. Everything was perfect. The house was adorable and we truly enjoyed the fox theme. There were some really unique decor items. We loved how the place was decorated, it had a gorgeous kitchen-family room open space. Everything looked new and clean. The house was appointed with absolutely everything you would need and then some. We loved the privacy being surrounded by trees and nothing else. We did not get a chance to use the fire pit, but we will the next time. Nicole was very accommodating, easy to talk to and really kind. We loved this property and will definitely return. Highly recommend.
