It is thr oldest inn in Denmark and whilst that gives it a certain charm it also shows in the limited facilities. The stairs leading from street level to my room were somewhat challenging- a cross between stairs and a ladder

The hotel is from 1704 and is naturally not to modern standards, that was expected. However, as I travelled with my 88 year old mother, I must say that the extremely steep stairs (essentially a ladder) to get up on first floor to the rooms, was a tough challenge for her with her hurting knees. I was not prepared for one shared bathroom between the ten rooms. That could be me missing that info during the booking process. The doors were of the plank type, you'd normally find in barns. Yes, it's an old hotel, but as you pay for a hotel room, one does not expect to be exposed to the farting noises of the neighbours of the hotel. Overall, certainly an experience. That said, I would not recommend this hotel to people with any sort of disability, nor to families where carrying family members are required.

We loved this place! As advertised, it’s several hundred years old, located in a city that is much older than that, across the street from a church founded around the year 800. Ribe is really marvelous, and the Weis Stue is a unique and ideally located spot to explore it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. If you love history and want to feel a part of it, we highly recommend it.

The 1704 Weis Stu is a historic inn on the main square in Ribe. It is a halftimbered inn with restaurant on the ground floor and rooms on the 1st floor. Nothing like waking up to the cathedral bells tolling at 8 am each morning.

I liked the oldy Worldy feel of this place, the sloping floors were fun in the middle of the night, I also liked the price, but a bit of a pain to have to leave your room in middle of the night to take a leak, but hey it’s cheap. We also dined there and the food was really good, couldn’t eat all the ribs, it was a monstrous amount! 😁. Would I stay again…yes!

Chance to stay in a rare piece of history. Forget about all the usual hotel parafanalia, you are staying in a medieval hotel, how do you compare that to anything from today. You are getting the chance to experience what a hotel may have been like back in the 1600's.

If you love old, quaint and character filled accommodation and want to immerse yourself in history then this is the best place to do it. We absolutely loved Weis Stue and would happily stay again. The accommodation is best suited for those who love quirky and all the imperfections that come with a building that is a treasure. Staff were wonderful and they served delicious food at the restaurant. Need to be able bodied to cope with the stairs.
