We stopped in Reno on our way north. We almost always stay at La Quinta in Reno for the price, cleanliness, and dog friendly amenities.

Room was OK and comfy enough although note left on my door next day said staff not available to clean that day. No remote control for the TV, and no control buttons on the TV so no TV during the stay. The building is a motel style and was absolutely filthy and in disrepair. Bird droppings everywhere including on the exterior top edge of the wall AC unit. Walkways filthy - does anyone pressure wash? Paint peeling off and the metal railings were rusting through. Pretty sure someone was dealing drugs out of one of the ground floor rooms BC an old woman was sitting in a chair outside the room on the phone non stop and the door was open with two younger men inside who I think I saw counting cash. Lots of people outside their rooms leaning on the railings, sitting on the stairways, smoking and just watching. It did not feel safe at any time and I will never stay there again. I've stayed at lots of LaQuintas and they were always fine so I didn't look at the reviews but I think there's a big difference between their hotel and motel properties. Good parking and location right off the freeway. Breakfast was OK but limited and room too small to accomodate people; coffee was very weak. La Quinta should give this property the boot - it makes them look bad
