This hotel is an absolute dream! The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and private. The pools are gorgeous, especially the saltwater infinity pool where you can relax and watch the most magnificent sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. Food is excellent, and drink selections at all the bars are fantastic, made with natural fruit and premium spirits. Don’t forget to check out the small private beach, where you’ll find white-faced capuchin monkeys swinging from the trees. A stay at Makanda will make Manuel Antonio even more magical!

Fantastic service with Candy at check in and throughout. Leo was absolutely instrumental in guiding our overall experience, gave fantastic food recommendations, was incredibly prompt at attending to every single need. The staff is overall 10/10. Location was great, the main pool is really nice and also well laid out. The beach is beautiful, albeit a shame it's not exclusive for the hotel and only accessible during low tide. Elias on the bar was fantastic. Such a hard worker.

Property was very nice although the walking up and down the hills within the property was difficult and felt dangerous especially on the rolling surface installed. Service was great although there was a tendency to gouge for trivial services (ie salt and lime on a beer glass was an upcharge, Evian bottles of water $9 each). Bartending, waiters and golf cart drivers were definitely the saving grace. Our room A/C system was marginal.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff is really exceptional. However for the price, the hotel is lacking in some amenities that would make it a 5-star stay. Also, everything was about twice the price of what they reasonably should be charging. For example, the burger was USD$45, which as a New Yorker and frequent traveler, is one of the most expensive burgers I’ve ever seen!

We liked the proximity to the National Park. Food and drinks are overpriced at this property. For the level of hotel should at least offer water in the rooms. Other than that its a nice Hotel, I would recommend it for people coming to Manuel Antonio Park.
