My husband and I booked the Lux Marijani for our honeymoon. We did one week safari in Tanzania and then flew to Zanzibar to stay at the Lux. On arrival the staff were extremely welcoming and instantly made us feel at home. The Lux has amazing staff who get to know you and really make you feel welcome. The food and drinks selection was fantastic and all our tastes were catered for. The hotels facilities were overall ok and we spent a lot of the week at the pool and time in the evening on the beach. The nightly entertainment was always fun and worth watching. The only downsides to mention would be the fact that our room was situated on the ground floor and we had no view as we were surrounded by plants. On the first day, our room flooded and though this was inconvenient, the team were quick to rectify and very apologetic. The gym was quite small and not well air conditioned. There were limited sunbeds around the pool and this sometimes was quite frustrating. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

I can only rave about the service I received at this property. Everyone is so kind and so observant and so attentive to every single need. They go above and beyond. When I left this morning, they had a gift for me. I had to leave for my plane at 2 AM. They arranged for transportation pack me a breakfast coffee and gave me two gifts with a smile. I almost hated to leave. It was like I was going to be missed by my new family. The beach is absolutely beautiful. There is plenty of space. The villas are nice and big. The property is in pristine condition. I have no complaints. They remember my birthday also saying to me brought me a cake made up the bed with decorations twice excellent excellent excellent! Highly recommend

Stunning hotel, very reasonable price. We ended up opting for half board and this worked out well for us. There was always plenty of options on the buffet which were good, we did not find that the ala carte options were very tasty at all. The staff were all so kind and helpful. The private beach was lovely, though unfortunately you still get harassed by beach boys who are generally nice but annoying. The room was always clean, the staff smiling. The pool is beautiful and I love the extra inclusions as well as the little gifts! Godlisten and Rachel were especially wonderful. We would absolutely recommend.

Amazing hotel and staff! My every need was met and there was always a staff member close by who was willing to help. We arrived early and our rooms were not ready, they took our bags from us and allowed us to get ready in the change rooms. We went to our excursion and came back to find our luggage in our rooms! They even offered late check out for us! Ahmed is the best bartender ever! Made the best drinks and always had a smile on his face! Too many amazing staff to call out. I will miss Lux Marijani and the memories I had made over that week! The only down side I would say is the location is a bit far from stone town and other excursions around Zanzibar. However, the remote location makes for relaxation, quiet and great beaches! Expect a minimum of 1.5 hours each way to commute into the city areas like Stone Town. Other than that, for what you get in quality and celebrity treatment, the distance is the minimum of your worries! The staff literally cater to your every need! One other story, I came back from an excursion and needed dental floss. A staff member was prepared to call a pharmacy to get someone to deliver it to my room. I declined because it wasn’t necessary but just goes to demonstrate how serious they take guest satisfaction! Loved this place and will miss it tremendously.

My husband and I didn’t spend a lot of time on the property as we got married on the beach at a nearby hotel….but they decorated the room and had flowers for us at reception when we returned from our wedding. The staff is super friendly, grounds are clean and customer service is great.

Very stylishly designed hotel. Beautiful decor & tropical gardens leading to a picture perfect white sandy beach. Gorgeous large comfortable rooms. The perfect place to chill after our safari’s & stay in Stone Town. Thank you to the chef for fantastic food, especially the curries. All the staff were so lovely and the service was great. We also enjoyed the low tide sea safari with one of the staff. We highly recommend this as a beautiful chilled place to stay.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at LUX at the end of May — the place is absolutely beautiful! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the staff made our experience truly special. A big shoutout to Kennedy at the front desk — his hospitality was out of this world! So pleasant and polite, he took the time to show us around and made us feel at home right away. Huge thanks to Abdul at the cashier desk for the amazing upgrade to the Executive Beach Front Room #9 — what a treat! And Ali at Café LUX, thank you for your help — such a well-mannered young man. We will definitely be coming back again!

Hotel is nice. You do get hassled on the beach. The different food and drinks packages are confusing so do your maths on regular intake. Hotel is expensive but so are all hotels in Zanzibar.

Other than the beds we found to be too hard even though we asked for the soft one, the rest of our stay was amazing the different dinning themes, the pool, the ocean being right there. But the highlight was the staff they are so friendly and absolutely give you the best service.
