I am giving this property a three-star review because there was a noticeable humidity smell throughout all the buildings, including the rooms. Additionally, our key cards kept deactivating, and I had to visit the front desk about four times to have new ones issued. It wasn’t until a housekeeper mentioned that the cards stop working when stored near a cellphone. The front desk was often difficult to reach by phone, and multiple attempts to request housekeeping through the RIU app were unsuccessful, as it never worked. That said, it wasn’t all negative. The hotel’s proximity to the beach was ideal, the room was spacious and clean, and the front desk staff was generally helpful in person. The food was average.

I went on a solo trip I felt safe the whole time. The property is clean and the staff is nice. The food could've been better but can't really complain when everything was GREAT. I recommend getting the elite the perks are worth it. I want to say Suge that checked me in with Elite was so helpful,I had a really nice bell man (sucks I can't remember his name), and most of all Evelyn in the Elite bar is the best. Had issues with room keys and internet. Then had a free return trip back to airport included in package. I went to speak about setting up my return trip to airport on 11/27/25. Spoke to Robert who is in charge of the destination packages told me to write down all my information so he can arrange transport. He looked at it said ok and told me to go back on Saturday the day before I leave to get information about when we will need to leave. I go back on Saturday and Robert then informs me that no they do not do return trips to SDQ airport only Punta Cana airport and I needed to email Expedia. He then turned and spoke to other people ignoring me. Later on Saturday the restroom light shocked me. This created a burning pain from my finger to my wrist. I have discoloration on my finger from where I was shocked. Once informing customer service, Anna Maria I was given some burn cream and told if it gets worse to let them know. Atmosphere was amazing but customer service and all around would I go back a big No.

The hotel was clean, well taken care of, and beautiful resort. The staff does not respond when questions are asked but they do hear you and walk away to go get any requests. It would be nice to hear, sure I can do that, or yes, I’ll be back. Most of the time I did not get a nod or yes when I asked for a glass of milk with my coffee for example. The pools were beautiful however, we did not receive a towel key so we were sent to walk across the resort ( which is big) back to the lobby to get one… it was mid day so a lot of check ins were going in, we had to wait in line. The food at the restaurants were not that good, we are not picky eaters but every restaurant we tried was a solid 5, needed salt pepper and some hot sauce options, not available. The best food on the resort if the BUFFET….. the beach was beautiful, the location is great. If you purchase any excursions with the guys at the beach or the resort, be sure to bring cash and expect to spend quite a bit since they will stop at many gift shops, beach restaurant, and tours that’ll push to pay for extras. I give this place a 3 because of the food mostly… the cocktails and amount of bars were great. But I would like to see Riu improve on the quality of food..
