We recently stayed at Ocean El Faro in Punta Cana. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, and the pools are lovely with plenty of space to relax. Overall, the staff throughout the resort were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were nice and comfortable, though a bit dated in some areas. The food was average at best — we’ve experienced much better quality at places like Club Med. The elevators were frequently out of service, which was frustrating at times. Service at the buffet was inconsistent; while some staff were attentive, others seemed more focused on socializing with each other, and we often had to ask multiple times for coffee, napkins, or butter — sometimes we received them, sometimes not, depending on who we asked. On a very positive note, our butler Jose was outstanding — a genuinely great guy who went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay. We chose this resort specifically for the Vilas Tennis Academy, which was excellent. If it weren’t for Vilas, we likely would not return.

Food was not that great. Meats were typically overcooked. À la carte options tasted worse than the buffet. From a service standpoint, most workers seemed like they hated their job and didn’t want to be there and were not friendly. That reflected in the service towards guests. This resort stay convinced me not to return to DR for vacation anytime in the near future.

We really enjoyed our week at Ocean El Faro. Our room was always clean and the fridge was stocked. We enjoyed all of the different restaurants and loved the unique vibes. The nightly entertainment was fun and was different each day. We were also assigned a butler, Hector, who was incredible and checked in on us multiple times a day to ensure our stay was everything we wanted it to be. Would definitely recommend this resort!

My boyfriend and I visited Punta Cana for the first time and stayed at Ocean Rl Faro Resort. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly staff. Our flight was quite early in the morning and we arrived well before check in time. Hotel staff was super accomodating and provided our room 3 hours early. We had our own personal concierge named Hector who was absolutely amazing. He texted us through our stay to ensure we were enjoying our time and making sure we had everything we needed. He was able to answer any questions we had and was very friendly and professional. He made all of our reservations for us, helped set us up to booked excursions and helped out any way he could. He was great! We booked our excursions through the hotel and each one was lovely. Unfortunately we were unable to complete one excursion due to windy weather, but we were provided a refund for this and appreciated this very much. The rooms were beautiful and cleaning staff was lovely, even making us cute little towel folds with flowers. The resort itself was great with activities for everyone. Lastly, the food was amazing at every restaurant we went to, and drinks were awesome too. Definitely would recommend this resort! They had many activities for kids too so great for families.

It was absolutely incredible. The grounds are spectacular—lush, beautiful, and perfectly maintained. The pool is fantastic, and the lazy river is so much fun. The bars are outstanding—great cocktails and a lively atmosphere. I have to give a special shoutout to Carlos Enrique—his warm hospitality made our stay truly exceptional. I can’t recommend Ocean El Faro enough—this resort is a real gem!

Dirty dishes. No customer support at all. Staff look grumpy and show no interest in serving guests. The worst and most serious issue was a major safety hazard: a large concrete decorative letter “A” from the “Dominican” sign near the beach was not properly bolted or secured. It nearly fell and could have sent my kids to the hospital. Extremely dangerous and negligent. In addition, there are potholes everywhere along the walkways on both sides of the building, making it unsafe to walk. The food is tasteless, dining facilities are poor, and there is no variety—the same food is served every day. Not worth it. Be careful.
