Great vacation (but be aware of noise and seasonal seaweed)
We visited April 2023. Michael was an excellent host and did his utmost to resolve issues and make our stay as wonderful as he could. The unit is lovely and as shown in the pictures with a private large deck and comfortable beds. It is part of a safe and secure complex. There was a delay in getting access, but with a call from the host, it was all sorted. The property and pools are well maintained. There is a swim up pool bar, but it was closed during our visit (open during high season). Steps away is a little grocery store and awesome restaurants. There were two disappointing aspects. First, the noise. The upstairs bedroom faces the street and the nightlife is LOUD. At best it ended between 10-12pm, at worst 3am. Earplugs are a must and luckily the couch is comfortable to sleep on… For the downstairs bedroom, this was not an issue. The second issue was the seaweed. It was often stacked high on the beach and filled a portion of the swimming area. For a few days they were in the middle of cleaning it so on top of the 4 ft of seaweed were garbage bags filled with it…and the smell… I understand this is seasonal in Bavaro, but we walked for many kms in both directions, and the seaweed at this complex was by far the worst. All that said, we walked and found other places to go for a lovely swim! There are some public ones a short walk away that are better maintained. We also did day trips to Macao Beach and Bayahibe Beach which were both beautiful and seaweed/smell free!
