While the property itself is beautiful, the rooms on the family side felt VERY outdated. The floors were noticeably dirty, which made me extremely uncomfortable allowing my toddler to crawl or play on the floor. I was honestly surprised by the overall experience, especially since we chose this resort based on the many glowing reviews about service and food. Unfortunately, neither lived up to expectations. Interactions with staff often felt strained, and even very simple requests seemed like an inconvenience. Something as basic as getting a highchair at the buffet or receiving clean towels required repeated follow-ups and, at times, tracking someone down to ask again. Check-in was also unnecessarily long and frustrating. After a full travel day, all we wanted to do was drop our bags and feed our toddler, but the process took over 35 minutes. To make matters worse, when we finally arrived at our room, our key cards hadn’t been activated. We’re a very easy-going family and didn’t have high expectations, our goal was simply to swim, enjoy decent food, and relax. Instead, the experience felt far more frustrating than it needed to be, which was disappointing given the reputation of the resort.

We did have an issue with Christmas Eve dinner reservations. We did not know they were needed until I saw it posted in Facebook. Made a note on Facebook and received a call from Guest Services. Went there spoke to a representative who then got the assistant manager. Her name was Ines. She listened to my concerns as why we were not told during the check in process that certain restaurants were closed on Christmas Eve and that reservations were needed. I told her it was our anniversary and we wanted to go to the steak house but it was closed. We decided to go to the buffet after speaking to people who we met there. They have been to the resort for 5 years at the same time and stated the buffet was excellent. They were right. Ines was there when we went to dinner. She wished us a Happy Anniversary and took off. When we go back to our room she had it decorated with balloons, a heart of rose petals on the bed and Mylar balloons saying Happy Anniversary. She went above and beyond to make our night special. She also called the next day to make sure everything was ok. We truly appreciated what she did for us Thank you Ines for all you did. This is our 2nd time at Majestic and we will be back next Christmas. Everyone from the staff was so friendly and always remembered us when we came in the restaurants or buffet. They remembered what we drank etc. We had a fantastic time

The resort itself was very good. The beach was great. The food was hit or miss, with some really good meals and a couple that we didn't care for. The pool is very shallow but was surprisingly never crowded. Most of the facilities were very good but the room itself was a little outdated and needed renovation.

The staff was extremely friendly and provided excellent customer service, always willing to assist and keeping us informed about resort activities. Our room was very clean; although a bit dated, cleanliness was never an issue. The food overall was very good, especially the buffet, which offered a great variety of options with excellent presentation. The buffet was consistently the best dining choice. We also had an excellent hibachi dinner experience at Ma Suri—great food, entertaining chefs, and very good service. Unfortunately, the à la carte restaurants did not meet the same standard. Service was inconsistent, and food quality was disappointing. Our Christmas Eve dinner at the French restaurant, Le Gourmet, was below expectations. While the presentation was nice, the food itself was not good, and one of the five entrées we ordered ran out without notice, showing a lack of staff communication. At the steakhouse, Rodeo Grill, service was slow, taking over an hour, and the steaks were overcooked and cold. Overall, we had an amazing experience. Customer service, cleanliness, activities, and airport transportation were excellent. The only downside was that tipping felt somewhat expected, and service noticeably improved afterward, which came across as a bit pushy. Our concierge, mayordomo Wilimier, was incredible and truly enhanced our stay.

Friendly staff - not one member was surly or neutral- all interactions felt courteous and positive, and there was a genuine smile. Staff also resolved issues quickly- like a broken crib, adjusting cleaning time to accommodate children’s naps. The resort was great- met our needs as a mixed age group- babies, 30’s and 60 year olds - and it didn’t feel crowded. Creative entertainment- loved the silent disco! Hibachi restaurant was best food and setting. Food was ok generally- it’s a big en masse production, but a lot of variety. A very positive experience of an all inclusive holiday resort. Fireworks were great on New Years Eve.

We had a bad experience at the Colonial due to poor service from the staff. At check in and throughout the stay the front desk wasnt very helpful when it came to resort/amenities information. On our second day we asked for breakfast room service, the breakfast was undercooked and the person who delivered the food was very rude and wouldnt respond to any questions we asked. Due the poor service we decided to try the beach buffet instead. At the buffet we were rushed by the staff so they could clear tables for the lunch buffet. At one point we were even directly told by one of the buffet staff to hurry up and leave, which we found very curious since there were other tables that were also still occupied by guests that were not being rushed by the buffet staff. Only difference we could see was that we were hispanic and the other tables weren't (guess they assumed we were locals and it was ok to treat us poorly). We didnt finish our food due to the bad service and went to guest services to give feedback. They offered to retrain the employees in question. Next day, we went for dinner at the buffet. We noticed the same buffet staff leering constantly at our table which made us very uncomfortable. We came to the Colonial for a relaxing vacation and instead had to deal with rude staff. This is a stark contrast to the neighboring Majestic resort where the staff make it a point to be accommodating and make guests feel welcome throughout their stay. Would not recommend Colonial.

We stayed at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana and overall found the experience disappointing. We prepaid airport transportation, but the taxi never arrived. We waited about 90 minutes before another ride was arranged. Check-in was also extremely slow—about 90 minutes—and we were told the room we booked was unavailable. We were temporarily placed on the family side and moved the next day. The $100 credit given for the inconvenience was very limited (only usable at a logo gift shop or spa). While the resort looks beautiful at first glance, it is clearly in need of maintenance: broken roof tiles, peeling paint, damaged lighting, fountains and sprinklers that don’t work consistently, unreliable Wi-Fi, and a slow response to a power outage. During the outage, elevators were down and guests had to carry luggage up a large staircase with little staff assistance. Rooms are spacious but poorly designed—no drawer space, limited bathroom counter space, unreliable electrical outlets, narrow toilet area, difficult tub/hot tub access, wobbly lamps, and visible black mold in vents and exterior areas. The hotel could not find one of our reservations I have reserved 3 rooms for my family They only had 2 rooms they told us, to find the third room next morning. The rooms were not cleaned daily

Food was TERRIBLE - misleading about needing reservations, many restaurants had the same food. Clearly Sysco-type food re heated. Very difficult to find towels. Had to hunt them down No snacks by the pools or beach Boats drove dangerously close to beach - totally unsafe and got no warning Most staff were not warm and friendly - seemed unhappy to be there. Very very pushy vendors on the strip by the theater. Would not take no for answers and tried grabbing us and putting jewelry, etc on us. Sold us counterfeit Cuban cigars. Many coffee machines were broken
