If you book through Expedia, the hotel staff doesn’t seem to be as courteous. I paid for an ocean-view room, but when I arrived they told me I was booked for a garden view instead. They moved me to a room at the Marine, but the balcony light wasn’t working. I reported it right away and no one ever came to fix it. The front desk staff also seemed bothered whenever I asked questions. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my stay. The only things I truly loved were the view and Palomino Island.

The resort is clean, safe and genuinely enjoyable. The only real drawback is the daily resort fee that gets added on top of your stay. Food is expected to be an extra cost, but the individual restaurants on the property run a bit high, and even basics like bottled water get marked up. Aside from that, everything else about the experience was excellent. We had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

This is the kind of property seasoned colleagues quietly warn you about—yet, against your better judgment, you assume *they* must have exaggerated. They didn’t. It’s bad. Very bad. At first glance, the resort makes an impressive entrance: a pleasant drive up, manicured grounds, and a stylishly appointed lobby that suggests you’re in for a genuine four-star experience. Unfortunately, that illusion evaporates almost immediately. The first real blow comes at check-in, where the resort casually presents a $1,300 deposit and additional resort fees for a five-day stay—charges that appear nowhere on their website or on Expedia at the time of booking. This lack of transparency isn’t just disappointing; it’s infuriating, and frankly, unacceptable for a property that positions itself as “premium 5 star.” Logistics only worsen the experience. Parking is a long, inconvenient walk from the main building, and both self-parking and valet come with eye-watering price tags. Add to that the resort’s significant distance from the city, and you’re essentially funneled into dining on-site. Unfortunately, the frustration continues there: meals are astonishingly overpriced for food that is, at best, forgettably mediocre. Back in the rooms—already average for the over priced rate—the staff constant door slamming of the utility rooms kept us up all night, there’s also, no microwave, meaning any overpriced leftovers you bring back are effectively useless.

What a great experience we had at this resort. Really great place with top notch service. The rooms were spotless and confortable…and the views from the room were amazing. All the amenities echo the same level. The staff was great too! So kind and helpful. My only negative was with the restaurants. We really enjoyed Ventanas for breakfast and dinner, but could have skipped the Italian and Japanese restaurants (just mediocre). We did enjoy all the bars and the smoothie shop several days:) thank you for a really great vacation!! I wish I could go back now!

I’ve been coming to this hotel for many years. After the hurricane it took a while to get it back to where it was. It certainly much closer to its original state now. It’s a beautiful setting hard to beat! My only criticism would be that you spend a lot of time waiting around for the ferry to the beach. Food is very expensive and the quality is just OK. Service was much better very good this time. This is a incredibly large property in a beautiful setting and it’s maintained very well now.

Was put in a completely different room than I booked, it was a very far distance from the amenities my family was. The wifi was down and I had no way to make or receive calls, work or get school work done. To top it all off, I had no hot water for showers all week. Staff was notified multiple times during my visit with no resolution offered.
