The Quality Inn Hyde Park is a good option if you don't want to spend a ton of money at the Beekman Arms but also don't want to stay in one of the skeevy-looking motels in the area. Though it could definitely use upgrades here and there (carpets, painting, etc), the front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was affordable and clean, and the place was very quiet (we stayed on a Wednesday night). There's free breakfast in the morning with coffee and juices, danish, cereals, yogurt, bagels and breads w/a toaster, a waffle-making station, and even some pre-made fried eggs (similar to what would be on an Egg McMuffin) and sausage. It was a pleasant surprise, since most hotel "breakfasts" are a crappy level of "continental."

1. First floor room with sliding window pane that could not be locked closed. A dangerous negligence. Discovered it during the third day and I had to prop it closed during the last night there. 2. It snowed about 6 inches during my stay and about 22 of the TV channels of only about 30 total, didn’t work due to a satellite dish mounted on the roof where no access to clean it of snow could be done. This TV interruption lasted about 4 hours. This was during the weekend when football games were being televised. I had to go to a local bar to look at the games…spending money on drinks that I didn’t want to. 3. They didn’t bother removing snow from the walkways at the ends of the building until well after it stopped snowing and by then 6 inches of snow had accumulated on the walkways…. Also no spreading of salt either was done on the walkway. Real dangerous. 4. The plowing of the parking lot was also done well after the snow stopped…with 6 inches of snow already fallen. 5. The TV was difficult to operate…it didn’t want to shut off. You had to press two buttons on the remote to start and to shut it off. Weird. But shutting it off was consistently problematic. 6. The same breakfast every morning at Quality Inns…manufactured scrambled eggs and sausages. They don’t bother indicating to you if the sausages are turkey or pork.
The walkway leading out to the driveway and parking lot. This stayed like this for hours.
The parking lot wasn’t plowed till later in the day. By then all 6inches of snow had fallen.
One of many TV channels not receiving a signal due to the dish being covered with snow.
