A highlight is Pottenstein Castle, perched on a rock above the town. Dating back to the 11th century, the castle offers wonderful views of the town and surrounding countryside. You can visit the castle and learn about its fascinating history.



Pottenstein also boasts impressive landscapes with many hiking and cycling trails. Favorites include the Püttlach and Klumpertal valleys, as well as the Pottenstein Höhenweg with its distinctive lookout tower, the "Himmelsleiter."

The most spectacular event takes place every year on the evening of January 6, when countless mountain fires are lit on the slopes around Pottenstein to mark the end of the two-day Eternal Adoration.
