Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel was very convenient, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned every day (so no problem there). It did seem to get very humid and musty (there was a bit of a musty smell to the rooms). Probably the age of the building.
We stayed on the top floor (#7). vaulted ceiling, nicely remodeled, big bed (that occupied almost all of the floor space). Nice bathroom ( odd that there was a window that looked into the sleeping area, but nice that there was a shade that could be pulled down). The elevator seemed new and worked well. Breakfast was "okay". We never saw anyone when we checked-in or out. never saw anyone but the woman preparing breakfast.
I would totally stay again. It was in a good part of town.
I have never stayed at such an unhygienic hotel. We came into our room after our first day out and noticed a stain under the comforter at the end of the bed. Upon further investigation it was a dried bloodstain the size of two golf balls in length. We contacted the owner who said he would come with a new sheet. He didn’t bring the correct one and wouldn’t be corrected until the next day. The owner tried to convince us it was a coffee stain but this is obviously blood.
He informed us the insert would be changed the next day. When we came back to the hotel the second day after being out, we decided to check the bed again. The duvet insert was changed but the other sheets were still the same. We knew this as we had taken many photos of our bed the night before and there were some stains on the mattress cover that were identical to the one we had the second day. Except, this time, on the mattress cover there were two new dried bloodstains that were 100% not on the mattress cover the night prior. These stains are not bedbug stains but definitely from someone bleeding onto them. We are confident it is not from us during our stay as it was at the foot of the bed where no body part tends to touch except for maybe a foot.
This is a warning to all other travellers staying here - thoroughly check your linens on your bed. The showers do not drain. There is a decent amount of mold in the bathroom. There is only a receptionist from 8am-1pm. Checkin was difficult.
Tammy was excellent. Although the thermostat didn't work, the climate was great. Door locked up, and they trusted us with the key. Wonderful host and very clean place. Not a single insect in sight. Let us check in early as our flight landed early.
The place is small and so is the room. The doors are half size. It was tight for a couple. Will be worse for a family.
But safe and accessible in Porto. Thanks again Tammy and Joaquim for all your help.

Disliked: Staff & service
The building is nicely renovated. My stay was nice once I was able to get in. However, they don’t have staff for most of the day and no set hours. I had difficulty getting a hold of staff to help me check in. Once checked in the room was very clean. It’s small but similar to what you find in the area.i appreciated having a kettle in the room.the double balcony doors offered nice light and character.
Awful service. We arrived at 5PM and the host didn’t let us in until 6PM only after us calling Expedia and his excuse was he wasn’t by the phone. They didn’t do anything to accommodate us for the inconvenience. Washroom had molds. Absolutely disgusting.
Little tricky finding the right door and no one was on duty so you had to have the right codes. But once in it was wonderful, just the kind of. Experience I was hoping for an a renovated classic building in Porto. Straight walk down to the river. Highly recommended if you’re starting your Camino. fruit by the coughing machine was a nice touch. Has a window into the bathroom, so get ready to put on a show. Just love the ambience the low beam, etc. Breakfast was served downstairs by a wonderful woman. Highly recommended.
Great location, called staff as requested on arrival for access instructions - very helpful and straightforward. Didn't have breakfast while there so can't comment on this. Room as expected was fairly small but comfortable and great for our stay. Would stay again. Thank you.
The property manager did not meet us at the Hotel at a pre arranged time of 6pm. Repeated What’s App msgs and calls and no answers. We luckily were let in by another couple staying at the hotel and found our key in the front desk. Breakfast also did not start till 830am, not feasible for pilgrims on a long first day out of Porto.
The self check-in was super easy. It takes a bit of time for the answer from the hostel so make sure to contact them in advance. The room was small but for the price it is perfect to visit Porto. If you want to stay in your room a lot, maybe it is not the best place. The breakfast was good and the service was amazing. I strongly recommend if you are traveling on a budget.
