I was genuinely surprised by how poor my stay was here, especially given the price point. While there was no obvious visible dirt in the room, the overall experience felt unclean and very dated. The hotel has an old, tired feel that comes through immediately in the room, hallways, and common areas.
The biggest issue was the HVAC system. The temperature was wildly inconsistent — heat was uncomfortably hot, while switching to cool air made the room too cold with an aggressive fan. There was no way to achieve a comfortable middle ground, which made sleeping difficult.
The room itself had several quality-of-life problems. The curtains did not fully cover the windows, letting in exterior light at night and early morning. The windows were also drafty, which compounded the temperature issues. In the bathroom, the shower dispensers were clearly not refilled, which felt careless.
The lobby and hallways had a musty, stuffy smell that made the entire property feel run-down rather than welcoming. Again, nothing overtly filthy — but the atmosphere suggested deferred maintenance and a lack of attention to detail.
For the cost, this stay felt significantly overcharged. I wouldn’t return unless there were meaningful updates to the rooms, HVAC, and overall upkeep. There are better options in Portland at this price point.
