I just really like this hotel. Staff are kind and accommodating. I love the rooms, they’re clean and spacious with lots of natural light. I like their valet system being completely digital. Had a great trip and stay.

This was my second stay at the Benson - my last was probably 15-20 years ago. The building is beautiful, the location is perfection - right in the heart of downtown, near Powell's and food carts and restaurants and loads of public transit, and the service impeccable. Every person we spoke to went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Only downside is that the Benson is now owned by a huge nationwide chain that appears to be cutting corners - they seemed rather under staffed, and some of the finishes were a bit cheap. I would still recommend staying there, just be patient with the staff who are doing a fantastic job.

Had a great stay a month back, but this second stay was mediocre. The room was more dated and this time I had to request housekeeping to come ready the room. Apparently, you need to let them know that though no one shared that when we checked in. They should let you know that on check-in. Room was a bit dated and there must be some rooms that are more updated, since this room wasn't great and paid extra for a corner suite. Better options in Portland and I'll likely skip The Benson due to inconsistency.

I enjoyed my stay at the Benson hotel recently. It's beautiful with the historic and classic beauty. It's very well maintained and clean. Inside room it looks modern and spacious. You won't feel it's over one hundred years. The staff are friendly. I like the stairway museum. It's informational and good setting to efficiently use the space to share the history of the hotel and Portland.
