Nested on a 2-acre wooded property in the tiny hamlet of Pond Eddy, this spacious and cozy 2-bedroom cottage offers privacy, comfort, and natural beauty. The house and its extensive deck are surrounded by mature trees and peaceful woodland views. Minutes from Upper Delaware Wild and Scenic River, gorge overlooks, pedestrian path along Pond Eddy bridge and longer Mongaup River hiking trail, Indian Head canoeing, raft launch, and beautiful wooden St. Volodymyr Ukrainian church.
The space
The cabin features two comfortable bedrooms, a full kitchen (with a large fridge, stovetop, oven, microwave, toaster, and electric kettle), a spacious modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, washer/dryer, and bright, inviting living spaces. Warm, welcoming interiors are filled with natural light from large windows showcasing the surrounding landscape. This comfortable house is enhanced by central A/C and heating, reliable high-speed wifi, and a smart TV with streaming services. Outside, a large wooden patio overlooks the expansive lawn surrounded by trees, with space for outdoor dining, active games, or simply enjoying nature.
The Delaware River is renowned for kayaking, canoeing, tubing, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and rafting. Explore miles of hiking trails and scenic roads throughout the surrounding Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River area, with stunning river views, wildlife and bird watching (see numerous local wild porcupines after dark, and, if you are lucky, spot flying squirrels that live in our forested backyard), seasonal foliage, and opportunities for nature photography.
An 8-minute walk (or a 2-minute drive) from the cabin takes you to the Delaware River and the impressive Pond Eddy bridge, with beautiful views and a pedestrian path along the bridge. A 4-minute drive from the cabin is the striking St. Volodymyr Church, inspired by the traditional wooden churches of Ukraine. Its handcrafted architecture and bell tower make it a favorite stop for photographers and architecture enthusiasts. Within a 5-minute drive is Indian Head Canoes, offering Delaware River rafting, tubing, kayaking, and canoeing. Port Jervis, a 15-minute drive away, has a charming small-town character, historic architecture, local restaurants, and antique shops. Some other sights and hiking paths in the close vicinity to the house: Mongaup River Trail (gentle hiking, 2 miles round-trip), Hawk's Nest Lookout (scenic road and lookouts), Lander's River Trips (kayaking), Bashakill Marsh (famous for some of the best birding and stream snorkeling in the Northeast), and Neversink Gorge with hikes to waterfalls.
Flying squirrels live on our wooded property. They are delicate and shy creatures, but can at times be seen after dark. There are also opossums, raccoons, porcupines, foxes, bobcats, owls, mink, otters, beavers, bald eagles, woodcocks, and occasional coyotes in the area. We have not seen bears yet, but please do not leave the food or trash outside except in the designated (locked) bins as described, or they might come.
Other things to note
Please no shoes or pets inside the house, no smoking/vaping in the house or on the patios, and no outside guests. Children under the age of two may stay for free if use existing beds.
