Hotel: Holiday Inn Pocono Check-in date: December 3 Check-in time: around 5:00 PM Booking platform: Expedia Issue: Indoor pool not working / misinformation / refusal to compensate We checked in to Holiday Inn Pocono on December 3 at approximately 5:00 PM. Before checking in, I specifically asked the front desk staff whether the indoor pool was available and operational, as this was a critical factor for our stay due to children. The front desk agent clearly confirmed that: • the hotel has an indoor pool, • it is indoor, • and it is working. Immediately after check-in, we went to the pool area and discovered that the pool was not usable at all. The water was extremely cold and not heated, making swimming impossible. Other guests with a child were also present and unable to use the pool for the same reason. A hotel employee who introduced himself as Jacob attempted to fix the issue and repeatedly assured us the pool would be ready: • first in “10 minutes,” • then “20 minutes,” • then “30 minutes.” We waited until approximately 8:30–9:00 PM, but the pool was never fixed, despite multiple promises. The pool closes at 10:00 PM, meaning the service was never provided during our stay. I requested a refund at the front desk due to the non-functioning and misrepresented amenity. The staff refused and stated that since the booking was made through Expedia, I had to contact Expedia directly. The hotel refused to take responsibility, despite: • providing false information

Hotel was cleaned and most staff were friendly. Arrival: The lady at the front desk was on her phone the entire time as I checked in. I asked to pay with a different card from the one I used to reserve since the room was to be paid upon arrival. She replied “ you can’t do that and that is why you shouldn’t reserve with a third party” Pool: The next morning we tried using the pool. An employee had been in there smoking, the whole room smelled horrific. The door was open to release the smell. Families were not able to use the pool, second hand smoke is no good! Breakfast: Pancake machine was off limits (2 days). The hotel’s breakfast was really a continental breakfast and not as they advertised it. Trades were empty by 8:45. Families waited a long time to get the food trays refill. Being a holiday weekend and fully booked , the hotel should have been better prepare. Anemployee had been in there

Upon arrival, there was a line of people waiting to check in. The front desk was clearly understaffed, and the lone greeter was grumpy and unfriendly. And she didn't set up our door cards properly so that we had to go back to the front desk for get them properly set up.

Friendly staff; however, the pool water temperature is cold and not ideal. Very poor sound insulation. Make sure you don’t get an end room, as there is an HVAC unit at the end of the corridor. It turns on from time to time and sounds like drilling through the wall from next door all night long.

There were cockroaches on our first room. Moved to another room and more cockroaches! Our neighbor kept banging and knocking on the walls! Staff did nothing to resolve issues. Rude and dismissive
