Experience cozy comfort at Sawpit Stonehouse near Placerville, CO.
Discover the stunning San Miguel's Riverside Villa, an idyllic retreat nestled 3.5 miles upstream from Placerville, Colorado, towards Telluride near the hamlet of Sawpit. Located directly on the San Miguel River, this home is perfect for the experienced angler or the budding novice.
In the owner's words:
“The proximity of our home, located in the valley, and directly on the river, showcases the splendor of this special river that visibly winds between the high mountains directly in front of you, upstream.
From all of our three stream-side decks, and even from inside the house, we are constantly entertained by the river's music: its sounds from the flowing water's constant cascading, splashing, and sporadic clunking sounds from the swift water's rolling and tumbling of the river rocks below the surface, on the river's bottom. Occasionally, we even experience “fire cracking” sounds that signal a breakup of the winter ice flows.
We are entertained daily by watching for the unscheduled appearance of wildlife: bald eagles, owls, hawks, ouzels, ravens, ducks, Canadian geese, turkeys, grosbeaks, Stellar Jays, Chickadees, hummingbirds, rabbit, muskrat, beaver, deer, elk, bear, river otters, chipmunks, porcupines, skunk, and squirrels all drinking and hunting throughout the day and night.”
Snowshoeing and X-C skiing are doable right outside your door, downstream or starting upstream from the pullout just a little above Sawpit. Be sure to search downstream, just yards along the old Galloping Goose RR grade (the road that winds downstream from our house, within the National forest), to find the restored mining “tipple”. This mining building was used during the last century to receive ore-filled buckets that were incoming from the moving cable, dumped into the hopper, then emptied using the slide into waiting train cars.
This charming three-bedroom, two and a half bath home offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, making it an inviting getaway for families and nature enthusiasts alike. The home has three private outside decks.
Step inside to find a spacious interior designed for relaxation and comfort. The en-suite main bedroom features an oversized Olympic Queen-size bed, a private outdoor deck, a walk-in closet, a walk-in shower, and a private toilet. The second bedroom comes with a luxurious king bed and a closet. The third bedroom, the Parlor Room, has two bunk beds and a trundle bed, a sink, a second refrigerator/freezer, a second microwave, and a second Keurig coffeemaker.
Seven guests can be accommodated comfortably. The billiard room, with its own Smart TV and antique pool table, accesses an adjacent, covered, upstairs outer deck, directly above the river. Entertaining, up and down, is afforded by the open loft and open beam ceilings.
The open concept living area is perfect for gathering, highlighted by a welcoming gas fireplace and an entertainment setup with a flat screen Smart TV, ensuring cozy nights in.
The fully equipped kitchen is a chef's dream, featuring modern appliances, including a freezer, a reverse osmosis (RO) water system, an RO ice maker, a refrigerator, a stove, an oven, a dishwasher, and a microwave. The large kitchen island and the adjacent dining table each seat six. There is ample counter space and dining options for family meals. Step outside to enjoy the expansive outdoor areas, including a patio with BBQ facilities, perfect for those sunny afternoons.
Safety and convenience are priorities here, with features including a professional security system, smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, and a first aid kit. San Miguel's Riverside Villa also offers high-speed wireless internet, making it easy to stay connected during your mountain retreat.
Just a stone's throw away, guests can explore the beauty of the Colorado mountains, with activities such as Jeeping, snowshoeing, ice climbing, downhill skiing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain climbing, fishing, XC skiing, and gold panning. The area is rich with attractions, including stunning waterfalls, autumn foliage, Alpine Lakes, and numerous shops for those who love to explore.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience an unforgettable stay at the San Miguel's Riverside Villa. Book your escape today and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Colorado.
