Summary:
At The Pioneertown House, your next hike begins at the backyard gate. This renovated one-bedroom retreat for two borders the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve, with sweeping boulder views and 1.13 acres to enjoy at your own pace. Spend the day exploring mountain trails, then return to a hot tub beneath a string-lit pergola, a fireside evening, and the quiet of the open desert.

It's a place where an ambitious morning hike and an afternoon spent doing very little feel equally worthwhile. With room for just two, the experience is intimate, relaxed, and centered on the remarkable surroundings.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The most distinctive feature of The Pioneertown House is what lies just beyond its backyard. A private gate opens directly onto trails winding through the 25,000-acre Pioneertown Mountains Preserve. Set out for a morning walk or a longer adventure among the boulder-strewn hills, then return home without ever needing to drive to a trailhead.
Back at the house, the grounds offer plenty of reasons to stay outside. Stretch out in a hammock, cool off in the cowboy tub during warmer months, or spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying the mountain views from a covered patio. The cowboy tub is unheated and unavailable from October through April.
As evening approaches, the outdoor spaces take on a different character. Prepare dinner on the BBQ and enjoy it at the outdoor dining table, challenge each other to a game of horseshoes, or settle into an Adirondack chair beside the propane fire pit. A separate patio beneath a substantial wooden pergola houses the hot tub and loungers, with warm string lights overhead and the surrounding mountains providing the backdrop.
With 180-degree views of the rocky landscape, the setting remains the main attraction whether you're exploring the trails or simply enjoying a quiet day at home.
-Living Area-
Inside, the renovated home maintains an easygoing western ranch atmosphere, offering a comfortable place to recharge between outdoor adventures. At 900 square feet, the house is well suited to two guests who want a manageable, welcoming retreat rather than a sprawling vacation home.
After a day on the trails, settle in for a quiet evening, catch up on reading, or plan the next day's adventure. Heating and air conditioning provide comfort through the desert's changing temperatures, while Starlink Wi-Fi keeps you connected when needed.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The fully stocked kitchen makes it easy to settle into your own routine. Brew coffee before heading into the preserve, prepare a picnic to take along, or enjoy a relaxed meal at home after a day of exploring.
When the weather invites you outside, the BBQ grill and outdoor dining table extend mealtime into the desert landscape. It's a particularly appealing setting for an unhurried dinner, with the last light falling across the mountains.

The Pioneertown House features one bedroom with one bed and accommodates a maximum of two guests. Its intimate scale makes it especially appealing for couples or solo travelers looking to spend meaningful time in the desert.
