About this property
Secluded Mountain Wall Tent with Scenic Valley Views near Palomar Mountain, CA
Peaceful Mountain Tent Escape
Tucked away on a 67-acre ranch high on Palomar Mountain, this beautiful wall tent offers the perfect balance of comfort, simplicity, and mountain charm. At this Ranch, nature takes center stage — from the rustling oaks and distant valley views to the peaceful stillness that surrounds you.
Inside, your private wall tent features a comfortable queen bed with soft linens and simple touches that create a calm, restorative atmosphere. As evening falls, unwind under the stars or enjoy the soothing sounds of the forest. In the morning, watch the sunlight move across the valley as you sip your coffee and breathe in the crisp mountain air.
Guests have access to most of the ranch’s 67 acres, including scenic walking trails and a yoga deck that overlooks breathtaking views of the valley and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean. Outdoor showers are available for longer stays, and BBQ areas can be arranged upon request. Whether you’re here for hiking, meditation, or pure relaxation, this is a space to slow down and reconnect.
The Ranch is off-grid and solar-powered, sustained by artesian well water and designed with respect for the land’s natural beauty. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to ensure your comfort and provide assistance if needed.
The journey here is part of the experience — After turning off CA-76, you’ll have about 6 scenic miles to go before reaching the Ranch. The first mile of the road is paved, followed by approximately 5 miles of well-maintained gravel along Nate Harrison Grade Road. This road can be rough and single-lane in places, but it’s usually passable in a well-maintained passenger car. Please drive slowly, bring plenty of gas, and ensure your brakes are in good shape for the descent. You’ll know you’ve arrived at the entrance when, just before a sharp left switchback, you see a stone memorial to the ranch’s namesake, Nate Harrison, on the right side of the road, along with the name of the Ranch sign, and rewards you with expansive views and a true sense of escape.
Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a quiet writing retreat, or a peaceful solo stay, this wall tent in a Ranch offers something rare — space, silence, and the serenity of nature all around you.
We are proud stewards of the Ranch, a 67-acre off-grid retreat high on Palomar Mountain. Our vision is to share this unique place — where history, nature, and serenity meet — with guests who are looking for more than just a getaway. Powered by solar and fed by our artesian well, the ranch is designed to be self-sustaining while offering modern comforts in a natural setting.
Our team lives and works on the property, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and peaceful environment for all who visit. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with anything you might need. Whether you’re here for a weekend of hiking, stargazing, or simply slowing down, we look forward to making your stay relaxing and memorable.
This Ranch is a rare mountain retreat where nature, history, and serenity come together. Set on 67 private acres at 3,600 feet, the ranch is surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest and offers sweeping valley views, abundant wildlife, and star-filled skies. Guests can explore historic sites like Nate Harrison’s stone house, wander scenic trails, or relax on the yoga deck overlooking the mountains and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean.
Being fully off-grid and powered by solar with artesian well water, the ranch provides a sustainable, self-sufficient escape while maintaining a welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place to unplug, breathe deeply, and experience the beauty and quiet of Palomar Mountain.
Nestled in the Cleveland National Forest and surrounded by Palomar Mountain State Park, the ranch is alive with wildlife — you may spot deer, red-tailed hawks, and even bobcats. The famous Palomar Observatory is just 10 miles away, and the nearest store is about 45-minute drive.
