About this property
Secluded Luxury Glamping Tent with Panoramic Mountain Views near Pauma Valley, CA
Escape to the peaceful beauty of Palomar Mountain in this private wall tent at the Ranch, a 67-acre off-grid sanctuary surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest. Perched 3,600 feet above sea level, this serene retreat combines the rustic charm of nature with the comfort of a cozy, well-appointed glamping space.
Inside, the wall tent features a comfortable queen bed with fresh linens and soft lighting that creates a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Step outside and breathe in the crisp mountain air, surrounded by towering oak trees and sweeping views that stretch across the valley — and on clear days, all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Guests enjoy access to most of the ranch, including scenic walking trails and a yoga deck overlooking the valley. Outdoor showers are available for stays of two nights or more, and BBQ areas can be arranged upon request. Whether you’re hiking the property’s trails, meditating at sunrise, or stargazing under Palomar’s clear night sky, this is the perfect place to slow down and reconnect with nature.
The ranch is completely off-grid, powered by solar and sustained by its own artesian well water first claimed in 1892. A 24-hour Camp Host is available on-site to assist with anything you need, and propane tent heaters can be rented for cooler evenings.
The journey to the Ranch is part of the experience. After turning off CA-76, you’ll travel approximately 6 scenic miles to reach the property. The first mile is paved, followed by about 5 miles of gravel along Nate Harrison Grade Road. This is a rural mountain road that can be narrow, uneven, and bumpy in sections, and it requires slow, careful driving. While it is typically accessible in a standard passenger vehicle in good condition, we strongly recommend driving cautiously, ensuring you have enough fuel, and that your brakes are in good working order for the descent.
Whether you come to hike, explore, or simply unwind, your stay at the Ranch offers peace, privacy, and a deep connection to the mountain’s natural beauty.
Noise and Campfire Rules
Music: Please keep all music off after 7:00 PM so everyone can enjoy the orchestra of nature.
Quiet Hours: Begin at 9:00 PM. We ask all guests to keep noise to a minimum during this time.
Campfires: Begin dimming fires at 9:30 PM - Fires must be fully extinguished by 11:00 PM (A shovel is located near the fire pit for your convenience)
Pets are welcome!
Your furry friends are welcome! A pet fee will apply per pet to all reservations with pets, we kindly ask that all pets are declared prior to arrival. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, pets must be leashed and not left unattended in the tent.
Embrace Nature
As this is an outdoor glamping experience, you may occasionally encounter insects or wildlife despite our regular cleaning and preventative measures.
We are proud stewards of the Ranch, a 67-acre off-grid retreat high on Palomar Mountain. Our vision is to share this unique place — where history, nature, and serenity meet — with guests who are looking for more than just a getaway. Powered by solar and fed by our artesian well, the ranch is designed to be self-sustaining while offering modern comforts in a natural setting.
Our team lives and works on the property, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and peaceful environment for all who visit. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with anything you might need. Whether you’re here for a weekend of hiking, stargazing, or simply slowing down, we look forward to making your stay relaxing and memorable.
The Ranch is a rare mountain retreat where nature, history, and serenity come together. Set on 67 private acres at 3,600 feet, the ranch is surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest and offers sweeping valley views, abundant wildlife, and star-filled skies. Guests can explore historic sites like Nate Harrison’s stone house, wander scenic trails, or relax on the yoga deck overlooking the mountains and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean.
Being fully off-grid and powered by solar with artesian well water, the ranch provides a sustainable, self-sufficient escape while maintaining a welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place to unplug, breathe deeply, and experience the beauty and quiet of Palomar Mountain.
Nestled in the Cleveland National Forest and surrounded by Palomar Mountain State Park, the ranch is alive with wildlife — you may spot deer, red-tailed hawks, and even bobcats. The famous Palomar Observatory is just 10 miles away, and the nearest store is about 45 minutes’ drive.
