Modern-Rustic Off-Grid Retreat with Mountain Views & Serene Nature Escape in Pauma Valley, California
Escape to a modern-rustic sanctuary perched 3,600 feet above the world, offering a refined glamping experience that bridges California history with mindful, off-grid living.
Nestled on a private 67-acre ridge surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest, this tiny home is more than just a place to sleep, it is an invitation to slow down. Whether you are watching the sunset hit the Pacific Ocean from your private deck or exploring ancient trails, you’ll find a level of peace here that only Palomar Mountain can provide.
The Tiny Home
Designed with intentional minimalism and warmth, the tiny home features:
- The Sleeping Quarters: Two plush queen beds (including a unique "floating" bed design) outfitted with fresh linens, positioned to offer forest views the moment you wake up.
- Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Large glass-panelled double doors open wide to a private redwood deck, effectively doubling your living space and inviting the mountain breeze inside.
- Modern Off-Grid Power: While we are far from the city grid, you won't be in the dark. The unit is equipped with a dedicated solar-powered battery system that provides interior lighting and enough power to charge your small electronics (phones, tablets, cameras).
- Artesian Water: Experience the purity of mountain life with water drawn from our own artesian well, a source first claimed on this land in 1892.
- Mountain Warmth: To ensure you stay cozy during crisp mountain nights, a propane heater is provided inside the unit for your comfort.
The Ranch Experience
As a guest, you have the run of our historic 67-acre sanctuary.
- The Yoga Deck: A short, scenic walk leads you to our valley-view deck—the ultimate spot for sunrise meditation or stargazing.
- History at Your Feet: Discover the property’s deep roots, from the remains of Nate Harrison’s original stone house to the ancient Native American mortar stones (grinding rocks) located right near the home.
- Nature Trails: Hike through oak groves and pine forests without ever leaving the ranch. Keep an eye out for deer, red-tailed hawks, and bobcats.
Pro-Tip: We are beautifully remote. The nearest store is 45 minutes away, so please bring plenty of gas and your favourite supplies.
We are proud stewards of a 67-acre off-grid retreat high on Palomar Mountain. Our vision is to share this unique place — where history, nature, and serenity meet — with guests who are looking for more than just a getaway. Powered by solar and fed by our artesian well, the ranch is designed to be self-sustaining while offering modern comforts in a natural setting.
Our team lives and works on the property, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and peaceful environment for all who visit. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with anything you might need. Whether you’re here for a weekend of hiking, stargazing, or simply slowing down, we look forward to making your stay relaxing and memorable.
This is a rare mountain retreat where nature, history, and serenity come together. Set on 67 private acres at 3,600 feet, the ranch is surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest and offers sweeping valley views, abundant wildlife, and star-filled skies. Guests can explore historic sites like Nate Harrison’s stone house, wander scenic trails, or relax on the yoga deck overlooking the mountains and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean.
Being fully off-grid and powered by solar with artesian well water, the ranch provides a sustainable, self-sufficient escape while maintaining a welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place to unplug, breathe deeply, and experience the beauty and quiet of Palomar Mountain.
