Group Bunkhouse | Sleeps 12 | Mountain Views
Welcome to the Bunkhouse at Harrison Serenity Ranch, a spacious group retreat on 67 private acres of Palomar Mountain. Surrounded by oak trees, sweeping valley views, and the quiet beauty of the Cleveland National Forest, this rustic yet comfortable space is ideal for families, retreats, and groups of friends.
The Bunkhouse features six sturdy bunk bed sets ,comfortably sleeping up to twelve guests. With two full bathrooms, everyone has room to refresh after a day of hiking, stargazing, or exploring the mountain. The open, practical layout makes it easy for groups to gather, share meals, and enjoy time together, whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or a longer retreat. Please note; fitted sheets are provided on the beds, although you will need to bring all other linen, including bedding, pillows and towels
Step outside and you’ll discover the magic of Harrison Serenity Ranch. Guests have access to most of the property, including scenic hiking trails and a dedicated yoga deck that overlooks the valley — a perfect spot for meditation, morning stretches, or simply soaking in the view. Outdoor showers are available and BBQ areas may be arranged upon request. The ranch is also home to abundant wildlife, from deer and red-tailed hawks to owls and woodpeckers, adding to the immersive mountain experience.
For those who enjoy history, the remains of Nate Harrison’s stone house can be found on the property, offering a glimpse into the life of one of San Diego’s legendary pioneers. Nearby, the world-famous Palomar Observatory provides a fascinating excursion and an even deeper appreciation for the night skies you’ll enjoy right from the ranch.
Harrison Serenity Ranch is fully off-grid, powered by solar energy and sustained by artesian well water first claimed in 1892. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with your group’s needs, and propane heaters can be rented for cool evenings. While the property feels remote and secluded, it’s only about 45 minutes to the nearest store, so we recommend arriving prepared.
The journey here is part of the experience — After turning off CA-76, you’ll have about 6 scenic miles to go before reaching Harrison Serenity Ranch. The first mile of the road is paved, followed by approximately 5 miles of well-maintained gravel along Nate Harrison Grade Road. This road can be rough and single-lane in places, but it’s usually passable in a well-maintained passenger car. Please drive slowly, bring plenty of gas, and ensure your brakes are in good shape for the descent. You’ll know you’ve arrived at the entrance when, just before a sharp left switchback, you see a stone memorial to the ranch’s namesake, Nate Harrison, on the right side of the road, along with the Harrison Serenity Ranch sign., and rewards you with expansive views and a true sense of escape.
Whether you’re planning a family reunion, a group retreat, or simply a mountain getaway with friends, the Bunkhouse at Harrison Serenity Ranch offers space, comfort, and a setting unlike anywhere else. Here, you’ll unplug, reconnect, and create lasting memories in one of Southern California’s most beautiful landscapes.
