This apartment is lovely and in a great location in Chatelet Les Halles. However, it is situated directly above a club that blasts loud music until around midnight. The windows are not insulated and the sound reverberates throughout the apartment. The voices of people in the courtyard entering and exiting the club can also be clearly heard in the apartment and make it difficult to sleep. When we raised this concern, the company initially said that the noise was coming from outside the building but then admitted that the club was in the building but said that the apartment is “well-insulated” and they have never had complaints about noise. They indicated that their manager would contact us the following day but no one ever did. We were disappointed that (1) the listing did not disclose the existence of the club and the attendant late-night noise from it, (2) the company initially attempted to deny that the noise came from the building at all, (3) the company incorrectly said that the unit was well-insulated when the windows are single pane and insulated, and (4) the company management failed to contact us or offer any solution such as moving us to another apartment. In our view, this apartment is not suitable for anyone who seeks a quiet evening or wishes to get to bed before midnight.
