Deeply Disappointing and Unsafe Experience Our stay at Santa Maria Hotel was one of the most disappointing and anxiety-inducing trips we have ever experienced, largely due to the hotel’s alarming lack of understanding, preparedness, and care around food allergies, compounded by consistently poor service. We always notify hotels in advance about our child’s severe food allergies. Prior to arrival, we emailed Santa Maria twice, clearly listing our child’s allergens and specifically requesting a short meeting with management upon arrival something we do on every trip to ensure our child’s safety. This request was refused, and we were told it would be “fine” to speak to staff once we arrived. We were also explicitly assured in writing that our child’s allergies were on file. On arrival, it became immediately clear that no one had any knowledge of our child’s allergies, despite the prior emails and confirmations. Even more concerning, we had paid for an upgraded suite and specifically requested no nuts in the room. The room was stocked with multiple nut-containing items, including Snickers and M&S products. We had to repeatedly ask for these to be removed, even after being told it had already been done. The service at the pool bar and restaurant was, quite frankly, alarmingly incompetent not only regarding allergens but service in general. Orders were regularly forgotten, even when the venue was not busy, despite us asking three or four times.

We booked a city view and got the parking lot. The bathroom is nice, clean and spacious with a double sink. The room is ok. I'm not a big fan of carpet in the room. Dining is decent. Didn't have breakfast so no comment here Golf, front nine is nice. Back nine had a lot of construction, so not that pleasurable playing. I wouldn't call this a "luxury collection" The hotel is a decent 4 star

I had such a great experience at this hotel. The staff was incredibly attentive the whole time, and they really helped me pull off a surprise birthday setup for my girlfriend. They didn’t just do their jobs—they genuinely cared and made sure everything turned out perfect for her special day. The room was comfortable, the vibe was relaxing, and everyone we interacted with was kind and professional. It honestly made our trip so much better. Highly recommend staying here if you want a place that actually pays attention to the little things.

I recently stayed at The Santa Maria Hotel in Panama and overall had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. The rooms were comfortable, the amenities were excellent, and the service throughout most of the hotel was friendly and attentive. The highlight of our stay was the steakhouse. The food quality was absolutely amazing — truly one of the best meals we had in the entire city. The flavors, presentation, and service were all exceptional, and it’s definitely a restaurant I would return to even if I weren’t staying at the hotel. The only area that needs improvement is the breakfast restaurant. While the food was good, the ladies working there consistently appeared unhappy and not very welcoming. A bit more warmth and hospitality would elevate the experience, especially in such a high-end hotel. Other than that, everything else was great, and I would still recommend the hotel. With some improvement to the breakfast service, this could easily become a perfect 5-star stay.
