We were unable to stay
There was some confusion about our checkin process. 5 days prior our trip, I asked for the checkin instructions to be emailed along with the address of the property. We also did not know where to find the key if we had known the apartment number. The email was missing the apartment number and without it, security would not let us enter the building. Unfortunately my phone was not working in Panama and we had no wifi, so we had to go to a nearby hotel, borrow their wifi, borrow a phone and ask for help from a translator. I'm not sure what happened but we did not get the house number until 3 hours after our checkin time. I was starting to panic a little not having a place to stay after a 10 hour journey, with my dog, and not being able to easily contact the host, so I booked another hotel and we were not able to stay at the property. The building looks very nice and the neighborhood is great. We are sorry that we did not have timely communication of the correct instructions to enter the rental, therefore, could not stay. The host did however refund our money and that was greatly appreciated. VRBO did nothing to help us here as the communication between us, the host and them was severely lacking. VRBO should do better and PLEASE don't arrive at the property without all of the necessary information.
