## The Space
**Please read the full description before booking.**
Tavaita Cottage is not a hotel, luxury retreat, or standard holiday home. It's a collection of handcrafted cabins with plenty of personality, creative flair, and a few quirks. Some finishes are rustic and unconventional, which is all part of its charm. If you appreciate eclectic spaces with character and don't mind a few imperfections, you'll feel right at home here.
Located beside our family home, Tavaita Cottage consists of three separate but connected cabin spaces, providing a unique and flexible accommodation experience.
### Lounge Cabin
The main living space is warm and welcoming, featuring a wood burner and oil heater for cooler months. Large bi-fold doors open onto the outdoor entertaining area, complete with a Weber BBQ, picnic table, and garden space for long summer evenings.
### Loft Cabin
Adjacent to the lounge is the loft cabin, which contains two single beds on the lower level and a double bed on the mezzanine level, accessed via a ladder. A fireplace provides additional heating.
Please note that during winter the cabins can take around 45 minutes to warm up. If you're arriving later in the evening and we're home, we're happy to light the fire for you before you arrive.
### Newly Renovated Kitchen
The recently renovated kitchen provides everything needed for a comfortable stay, including:
* Fridge
* Microwave
* Double induction cooktop
* Kettle
* Toaster
* Washing-up sink
Please note that the kitchen is unheated during winter.
### Bula Room Cabin
The separate Bula Room offers a comfortable queen-sized bed and oil heater, making it a cosy retreat after a day of exploring.
### Bathroom & Outdoor Bath
The bathroom facilities are accessed via the rear deck and include a shower and toilet.
One of the property's most loved features is the newly upgraded private back deck, screened for complete privacy. Here you'll find a beautifully restored claw-foot bath, perfect for a relaxing soak beneath the stars.
### Sleeping Arrangements
We prepare beds according to the number of guests booked. Please let us know your preferred bed configuration when booking.
For bookings of four guests, two guests will need to share a bed. If you'd like all four beds made up, an additional linen fee of $15 applies.
### Included Amenities
* Linen provided
* Crockery and utensils for up to six guests
* Plunger coffee, tea, milk, and sugar
* Books and board games
* Exclusive use of the cottage and facilities throughout your stay
## Guest Access
Guests have full and exclusive use of Tavaita Cottage during their stay.
## Other Things to Note
* Our family home is located beside the cottage, and the driveway passes near the accommodation.
* The property is not suitable for parties, events, or large gatherings.
* During summer, friends and family may occasionally visit our property, and we sometimes host guests in another cabin elsewhere on the grounds. The atmosphere is best described as relaxed, friendly, and holiday-park-like rather than completely secluded.
* While the cottage can accommodate up to six guests, the living and outdoor spaces are most comfortable for groups of up to four.
* Ceiling heights in the lounge, loft cabin, and kitchen are low. Taller guests may need to duck in places—think cosy hobbit cottage rather than grand manor.
* During periods of heavy rain, some water may enter around the kitchen lean-to and fireplaces. The rear deck can also become slippery, so please take care and use the anti-slip surfaces provided.
* During winter, the wood burner is essential for heating the lounge and loft cabin.
* We have a small, friendly dog who may stop by to say hello.
* Being in a semi-rural environment, occasional insects and other critters are part of country living.
* The garage beside the cottage serves as the depot for our family business and may occasionally be accessed by staff.
If you're looking for a creative, character-filled place to stay, with easy access to cycling, swimming, walking, and the natural beauty of the Hauraki region, Tavaita Cottage offers a memorable experience unlike anywhere else.
