I was surprised to find that a five-star hotel assigned me a basement room. The space was so small that I could not fully open my suitcase, and because several rooms were packed into a tight area, the soundproofing was poor. At a three-star hotel, I would shrug and go to bed, but this property is rated five stars and quite pricy, and I expected better. They should have included a photo of the basement-level rooms so people could make a judgment based on accurate information. Most of all, they should not be rated five stars, so customers can make an unbiased decision. What I can see as positive is their bathroom maintenance. Although the room was on the basement level, I did not notice much of an unpleasant smell.

My room on the fourth floor came with a balcony which was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine after dinner. I really appreciated all the small details like fresh milk in the fridge for my morning coffee. Will stay again!

From the moment you walk into this property, it is clear it does not offer the ‘luxury’ it advertises. The carpets feel dirty and worn (I quickly decided to keep my socks and shoes on). The windowless rooms offer no fresh air ventilation - strongly not recommended for anybody who suffers from asthma or claustrophobia. There are stains on the glass mirrors behind the bed and tiles in the bathroom. And hair from past guests left in the shower. It is not a place that feels good to be in. I cannot express strongly enough, do not stay in this hotel.
