Outdoorsman's Paradise with the Rio Grande National Forest as your backyard!
One of two new Amish built cabins on the property, Cat Creek Cabin is your perfectly accessible wilderness base for outdoor adventures such yas hiking, fishing, and hunting! Located just 15 miles southwest of Monte Vista, these secluded cabins sit on the flank of theSan Luis Valley on 70 acres of private land, bordered on 3 sides by BLM land, only 2mi from the Rio Grande National Forest boundary. Wake up to panoramic views in every direction. Cat Creek Cabin has 2 queen bedrooms and a queen sofa bed in the living room, plus laundry room with washer and dryer. Parking for 2-3 vehicles right at the door, with additional trailer parking available. Sit and drink your coffee on the elevated front porch, or enjoy a campfire in the pit outside. There is a full kitchen with essentials such as salt, pepper, oil, coffee, tea, sugar and creamer, as well as dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. HORSES ARE WELCOME!!! Message me about available pens. Firewood can be delivered for a fee when there are no active fire bans.
Wake up to breathtaking panoramic views: the majestic Mount Blanca and Sangre de Cristo Range rising dramatically to the east across the valley, with the iconic Great Sand Dunes National Park in the distance, and the rugged San Juan Mountains glowing to the west.
Outdoor Adventures at Your Doorstep
This is a premier basecamp for unlimited recreation in one of Colorado’s most uncrowded wild places:
• World-class hunting — Excellent elk, mule deer, and black bear opportunities right in Game Management Units 80 and 81. Bring your gear and step out into prime public-land habitat.
• Horse-friendly — Bring your horses! On-site pens and pasture are available for your four-legged companions.
• Trout fishing paradise — Gold Medal waters on the nearby Rio Grande River (trophy browns and rainbows), plus outstanding, less-pressured fishing on the Conejos River and Terrace Reservoir.
• Hiking & 4WD exploration — Miles of uncrowded trails, direct access to the secluded mountain town of Platoro and its scenic reservoir (just a short drive), plus nearby South San Juan Wilderness and the Continental Divide Trail. Challenge yourself on legendary 4WD passes like Blowout Pass, Stunner Pass, Elwood Pass, and visit historic cabins along the way.
• Winter thrills — Wolf Creek Ski Area is just over an hour away for epic powder days.
• Wildlife viewing — Only 6 miles from the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, famous for its spectacular Sandhill Crane Festival every March (thousands of cranes, ducks, and geese against the mountain backdrop).
Evenings bring true dark skies for incredible stargazing, with the Milky Way stretching overhead in complete serenity.
