we enjoyed our stay
Good value - Hotel is close to city centre an main sights. Our room was spacious, great selection for breakfast. Staff could be a bit more outgoing, generally we enjoyed the stay a lot.
Great breakfast and good location close to many interesting areas. Only short walks to many point of interests. Hotel staff very friendly. Not in a loud area so its nice to sleep at night.
Room rather bare and lacking in furniture, but beds were comfortable, breakfast generous and checkout was a very generous midday.
Monumental costs of visiting Norway were eased by their very good pricing.
Perfect location. In a nice and quiet area but close to cafés, restaurants etc. If you expect a standard hotel you will be satisfied. Very clean, the room was quite spacious and service minded staff. A big and tasty breakfast buffet was included. Considering the price, I think Best Western West is an excellent choice!
Very nice breakfast room and buffet but depressing bedrooms
Not the standard I expected from Best Western regarding the bedrooms.

West Hotel Oslo - near the royal palace
The staff were friendly; we had a large room with a balcony though dead flowers in the boxes; the downside was it was quite noisy at the weekend. Shower room rather small and lacking in shelf space. Breakfast room with terrace very pleasant and with a great selection of food. Tram routes at each end of the street. All in all a reasonably priced and pleasant hotel,
Although the room was small and the bathroom was even smaller, overall the hotel was in a great location and was clean.
We could walk to the Palace within 10 minutes and to the National Theatre area in about 15 minutes. When we were feeling lazy we took the number 19 tram to the city centre.
The receptionists were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast provided was fresh and very tasty.
I would recommend this hotel.

Great value if your needs are simple
This hotel is perfect for a short stay and if you're not expecting anything very exotic in terms of facilities. Nice room, comfortable bed, nice shower, all very clean and at a terrific price for Oslo, one of the world's most expensive cities

Good enough for a short stay.
Three of us stayed here for 2 nights while in Oslo on holiday. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was wonderful with lots of food and lots of options. The room was just ok, it had plenty of space and 3 beds but the bathroom was small and outdated. The sink and the shower/tub drained through an open hole/grate in the bathroom floor which was slightly awkward and uncomfortable. We found the room to be perfectly clean and overall were satisfied. The location was fine and we could get around Oslo easily enough from here but it's not on the main pedestrian street. The area around the hotel was lovely and seemed perfectly safe.
Hotel was clean, breakfast was great, bathroom could have been bigger overall pretty good value. It was a quite place not too far from main attractions we walked, plenty of trams and buses to get around from this location. We took a train from the Airport only a block or two away. Plenty of affordable places to eat and buy water & snacks. Just avoid the 711 convenience store they will charge you $6 dollars for a water bottle that you can get 40% cheaper down the street from the hotel. They add Tax and other fees at check out. The family stores the price on the shelve is the price. Back to the hotel the staff was very helpful they speak English very well. The room didn't have air-conditioning but the windows are huge and in 80 degree weather the evening and day temp of the room was fine.
The hotel is a little bit outdated but everyday maintenance is quite good. Major adavntage is the location: 300 m from nearest bus stop, 500m to Royal Palace park and like 800m from metro station (bus gets there, do not worry). The result: quiet street without urban noise yet transport connection is quite convenient in walking distance. Direct bus #30 to "Con-Tiki and "Fram" museums passes the nearest bus stop. Second day we used to go to and from metro by feet. Shortly, the location is ideal for tourists. Last note: breakfast is really good...
I would highly recommend this hotel to any one thinking of visiting Oslo. It is in a very convenient location with close proximity to the city centre as well as train station. The staff was extremely helpful. The buffett breakfast was also excellent. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this htoel
We were very impressed with the efficient, freindly service and the hotel was conveniantly located.
We paid a reasonable price and our expectations were exceeded in every way. The highlight had to be the full buffet breakfast - well worth putting on the extra weight!
We were recently in Oslo and stayed in this hotel. It is a small hotel in a quiet residential part of town, away from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance of the main harbor area. It is also close to a bus that takes you to either downtown or Viegoland Sculpture Park (a must to see). It is not luxurious, but quite adequet with a great buffet breakfast.
My room was small, of course (it's Europe--hello), but nicely laid out and kept quite clean. The single bed did not seem quite level and the TV remote did not change channels after the first day. The phone did not work the first day; I told them abouot it, but I didn't have occasion to use it after that. A big plus is the huge breakfast buffet with both American items and traditional Scandinavian (cold cuts, cheeses). It was the most comprehensive breakfast buffet I've enver encountered in a hotel anywhere. The staff is very helpful, and they even loan you umbrellas for the day. Plus the hotel is only a healthy walk to the town center and most attractions.
Myself and my husband stayed here for a 3 night break. We would definitly recommend it. The room was clean and very comfortable. Bathroom very small but otherwise fine. Breakfast was by far the best we have had from this category hotel and we have stayed in quite a few.Would recommend requesting a room at the back of the hotel as the bar underneath was quite noisy but only on Saturday night.About 5 min walk from Palace,10 mins to centre, 15 mins to marina and about 30 min walk to bus station. No hesitation in recommending hotel.Excellent value for money.
Dirty, hot and very noisey, my room directly above bar / restaurant, loud music playing till midnight, asked to move rooms and turned down. Never ever again !!

Very nice hotel--centrally located for Oslo sightseeing
When we arrived they were working on the elevator (lift)--got it repaired. We asked to change rooms because we heard that the hotel was getting new beds/mattresses. Our mattresses were like marshmellows--too soft. They changed our room after the first night and it was much better. The reception desk staff were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel--excellent. We would definitely return, but that is doubtful as Norway is very expensive.
