The resort itself was beautiful, well-maintained, and the staff were kind and professional. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively impacted by a reservation issue that was completely avoidable.When we arrived, the resort had no record of our reservation because the owner had not communicated the booking to the property. This created a stressful and embarrassing situation at the front desk, where we were asked to step out of line and resolve the issue directly with the VRBO owner.There was only one call made to the owner, during which I was left on hold for an extended period of time with no communication or updates about what was happening, what had occurred with my reservation, or how the issue was being resolved. The call ended with being given a new reservation number and being told that I would likely need to wait for it to appear in the resort’s system.I want to be clear that the resort staff handled the situation as professionally as possible. I have always been 100% satisfied with VRBO in the past, but this experience will make me think twice about booking within a resort versus a private home in the future. The lack of communication and coordination from the owner caused unnecessary stress at check-in, and future guests may want to confirm in advance that their reservation has been properly shared with the resort prior to arrival.
