This large and private waterfront estate is quietly located on the southern shore of Mooselookmeguntic Lake in the heart of the historic Rangeley Lakes region.
This spacious home is ideal for friends and family seeking an adventurous yet peaceful getaway. Enjoy true tranquility and outstanding stargazing under some of Maine’s darkest skies. Watch for wildlife right from the property — deer, moose, fox, hummingbirds, bald eagles, and loons are all commonly seen.
Mooselookmeguntic is one of Maine’s largest lakes at approximately 16,300 acres, with deep, clear water ideal for swimming, paddling, and world-class fishing. The lake is renowned for landlocked salmon and brook trout, including excellent fly fishing opportunities that have drawn anglers to the Rangeley Lakes region since the mid-1800s. This area has a rich sporting heritage of traditional camps, guides, and legendary fishing that continues today. Fish directly off your private dock.
The surrounding region also offers excellent hiking and waterfall exploring. Smalls Falls, a beautiful series of cascades with swimming holes, is a short and easy drive away. Angel Falls, one of Maine’s tallest single-drop waterfalls at approximately 90 feet, is also nearby. Additional trails and scenic gorges, including Cascade Stream Gorge, provide more options for outdoor exploration.
The home features 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Natural knotty pine walls and floors, along with a real pine tree trunk used as structural support, give the interior authentic North Woods character. The open-concept living room centers around a large fireplace built with river stones sourced from the lake and a nearly floor-to-ceiling glass wall that frames the lake views. One of the largest mounted moose heads with a full rack is displayed in the living room. The space also includes a Sonos sound system, high-speed fiber WiFi, and a full entertainment setup with Smart TV and DirectTV/cable. Careful architecture also provides excellent lake views from the primary bedrooms.
The large finished basement has its own private entrance and offers additional sleeping space with two twin-sized bunk beds (Tempur-Pedic mattresses), a separate bedroom, a full bath, and a large flat-screen TV with cable.
Outdoors you’ll find natural landscaping, a wrap-around deck, an outdoor fireplace with seating, a hammock, and a large seasonal dock. There is abundant parking on the property. The location is ideal — only 0.25 miles from a public boat launch, making boating especially convenient. You’re also close to Saddleback Mountain for skiing, with Sugarloaf and Sunday River within easy reach for additional mountain adventures. The beautiful towns of Rangeley and Oquossoc, with their shops, restaurants, and deep outdoor heritage, are a short drive away.
