Hotel looked nice from the street. Driving up the property was nothing special, due to simple/ minimal landscaping. Available parking in front of building. Pleasant greeting from worker in lobby. Quick easy transaction. Offered information on the breakfast hours. Room was large with a working fireplace (easy to use). Everything was clean. Opening day perfect, no but overall it was a comfortable overnight. The breakfast had enough offerings that we were able to grab and go. Location was very close to the colleges. Competitive or slightly better rates than other hotels in the area. Honestly not sure why low reviews. We read and were aware of reviews before we booked but didn't experience anything on this stay to reflect the negative reviews. Glad we booked The Marx Hotel.

When 1st opened probably 20 years ago it was the Gem of Oneonta. I don't think they have put a dime into since. Bathroom sink countertop wad a huge crack right down the front center. Was scared to lean on it. Shower flooded the bathroom floor. Room was stale in decor and aroma. Staff was SUPER NICE!!!!

The staff was very helpful, but wheelchair access could be much improved at the entrance. An upward incline on brick is not compatible with ease for wheelchair bound people. Thanks to the staff for being more than accommodating.

Hotel is well located for us. Just looks tired. First room had a leaking air conditioner, carpet was soaked and no toilet paper holder in bathroom. They moved us immediately. Second room no issues but seemed a bit worn.

Walking into the hotel there were weeds growing through the sidewalk, etc. just not nice or appealing. Inside was old, which in its own sense had some with, but it was not a clean feel. The rooms themselves were fine. Clean bathroom and comfortable bed.

Meh-needs updating, but I slept well!

I found an old salad on top of our fridge, no ice in our floor, spa was out of service, pool was dirty, keys for door work when they want too, smelled like it was a smoking building at some point. Def needs an update! Beds were comfortable.

Staff was great, kind and accommodating. Unfortunately the hotel is a dump and falling apart. At least a freight train across street comes through 430am and every hour subsequent so no need for alarm.

Needed wheelchair access room. The staff was very helpful. The room was adequate for needs. Could have had a bench to place suitcase on. A car was parked in a handicap spot with no tag, which left no parking one night. Not the hotel's fault. Staff was very helpful.
