Welcome to Moonshine Creek, a peaceful canal-front retreat tucked beneath the live oaks on beautiful Oak Island! Located directly on the Davis Canal and just two blocks from the Middleton Avenue bridge to the beach, this charming ground-level studio offers a little bit of everything we love about island life—beautiful surroundings, boating and fishing access, peaceful outdoor spaces, and the beach just minutes away.
Perfect for a couple, solo traveler, or small family of up to four, Moonshine Creek offers private ground-level guest quarters that have been thoughtfully furnished and decorated to create a comfortable, coastal-chic space that feels like home from the moment you arrive.
One of our favorite parts of Moonshine Creek is the rear sleeping and sitting area. A comfortable KING bed is surrounded by walls of windows overlooking the lush backyard filled with mature live oaks, palms, flowers, and beautiful landscaping. Wake up surrounded by the natural beauty of the property or settle in at the end of the day and enjoy the peaceful view. It's cozy, romantic, calming, and one of those spaces that just makes you want to stay awhile.
The studio also includes a separate bunk nook with two twin beds and a loveseat, making the space a great option for a small family. You'll find two comfortable sitting areas, a TV, books and games for the family, Wi-Fi, and a gas wall heater that creates an especially cozy atmosphere during fall and winter getaways. An additional window A/C unit is located in the bedroom area for added comfort during our warmer coastal months.
Fresh paint, newer furniture, mattresses, linens, and thoughtfully selected décor give Moonshine Creek a clean, comfortable, updated feel.

YOUR BACKYARD ON THE DAVIS CANAL
Step outside and you'll quickly understand what makes Moonshine Creek so special. The property is beautifully landscaped with magnificent mature live oaks, hydrangeas, azaleas, palms, and other coastal plantings. Multiple outdoor sitting areas give you plenty of places to enjoy your morning coffee, read a book, relax in the shade, or unwind after a day at the beach.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds, backyard, outdoor shower, covered/enclosed outdoor sitting area, and dock on the Davis Canal.
Love being on the water? Bring your fishing poles and fish right from the dock, launch a kayak or canoe, or bring your boat and tie up at the property during your stay. The Davis Canal provides access to the Intracoastal Waterway and is navigable at low tide. Multiple public boat ramps on Oak Island provide access to the ICW and Davis Canal.
Moonshine Creek provides parking for up to two vehicles, plus an area at the end of the driveway that can accommodate a boat trailer.
Guests planning to fish are responsible for obtaining any required North Carolina fishing license.
BEACH DAYS MADE EASY
When you're ready for the ocean, you're just two blocks from the Middleton Avenue bridge leading directly to the beach. It's approximately a 4-minute bike ride or 10-minute walk, or rent a golf cart during your stay and explore Oak Island in true island style.
We even provide a selection of beach toys for our guests to enjoy. When you return from the beach, rinse away the sand in the convenient outdoor shower before heading inside.
A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
Moonshine Creek is the private ground-level guest quarters of an owner-occupied home. The owners live full-time in the separate upstairs residence, while guests have their own private living quarters and entrance.
The owners truly love this property and love sharing their little piece of Oak Island paradise with others. They're happy to say hello, chat, answer a question, or share a local recommendation—but they're equally happy to give you your space and allow you to enjoy a peaceful, private getaway. How much you interact is entirely up to you!
You may also meet Blue and Crush, the owners' two friendly cats who roam the property. They love attention and don't mind a few pets from their new friends! Please be mindful of them when driving, parking, and coming and going from the property. Blue and Crush are outdoor companions only and are not permitted inside the Moonshine Creek guest quarters.
