"We stayed at The Zanzibari for four nights after a hectic trip to Dar Es Salaam and really enjoyed it. The location is beautiful and private, and we really did get a sense of peace and relaxation. The staff were really good. Very helpful, respectful and accommodating. Both the welcome and goodbye were pleasant and smooth. Transfers were organised swiftly. We felt well taken care of throughout. Thank you for that. My only comment would be that we found some of the staff to be a little intrusive at times, e.g. one knocked on the door persistently and then came into turn down the beds and spray the room. It would have been nice to be given the time to open the door and then be asked if it was OK to do the work. Another came in without us knowing and surprised us on the balcony. I believe it was to fix the toilet. These are the sorts of things that could (should) be done while guests are out. The room was nice and spacious, and the view from our balcony was lovely. Such a great way to start and end the day. The garden area had lots of loungers and never felt crowded. Appropriate footwear was provided for guests wanting to wade into the sea, which was very thoughtful. The restaurant experience was generally OK, though a little inconsistent. We had lunch and dinner - sometimes it was good. At others, it was clear that the food had been sitting for a while before being served. Sometimes, the staff struggled to communicate in English, but they did a good job overall."
