• Room was clean. • Staff were very friendly. • Facilities were clean. • Total area is very large. The walk may be challenging for some, but there is a shuttle that goes around. • Racoons run rampant at night and wil try to enter hotel rooms. • Buffet is decent quality.

The person we checked in with seemed to be very rude with every interaction we had. The rooms were not sealed very well as outside noise seemed like it was inside. There was a shuttle that came through every 15 minutes or so and was very loud and would sometimes honk its horn. That started very early and went pretty late. Coffee was only provided in our room the first day and we could buy it but we had to call. Our phone was broken in our room and the WhatsApp that was provided took 48 hours to respond and said we needed to call another number that actually never responded. We had to call for an inspection of our room prior to check out. We messaged both WhatsApp number to schedule with no response. The front desk at day of checkout was very kind and helpful and did expedite the process even though we werent able to follow the call ahead procedure due to our broken phone. The restaurant was buffet only and there was absolutely not direct beach access as described in the description. The view was nice but I would not recommend this spot.

Half of the people on the property the employees they don’t speak English every night. We will lock our door patio door and put our suitcase to the door, but still the raccoons keep coming in and eating up our things. Come to realize that the back door could not be locked.The beach was dirty with black sand there wasn’t that much option for the food breakfast lunch, and dinner. I didn’t even get in the water. And it’s because of the water I booked this property. If I would come to Costa Rica again, I would definitely go to a different city not this city Liberia.

Well… I don’t recommend staying here unless you either get a lower unit, The higher units are hard to access in your car, their shuttle is slow and unreliable and it’s a tough walk up/down in the heat. Also, the front desk/reception is more like a bus depot. We booked and paid thru Hotels.com but they told us we had not paid when we checked in. Fine, we showed proof (but that still wasn’t convincing). Anyway, we were happy it was only a one night stay. Upon departure, we stopped by the “reception” to check out. The Parking was blocked off so my only option was a stall in front that bottomed out my car. Hard! They made us stay for 15 minutes so they could go to our room and check to see if everything looked ok. Yikes! What a disappointing end to our Costa Rica trip!

This resort is pretty bare bones but felt clean (enough) and safe which were my main requirements as a solo female traveler. I hate to say it, but the food at the restaurant was terrible. I would avoid eating there. Highly recommend walking to the beach to gain access to the restaurants at the other neighboring hotels or La Casita del Marisco (SO GOOD!), or taking an Uber to nearby Playas del Coco for food. The pools were not particularly clean either so I avoided those. They maintain the beach well and I appreciated the shuttles that ran between the reception, beach and hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful, especially Enyaki from Unique Tours who helped me book my excursions. I will be back to Playa Hermosa but not this hotel.

You cannot beat location and shuttle back and forth to beach so you wont have to walk if you do not want to. The views are amazing, the balcony and more than ample room size. The people at the food service are great, it is a little pricey for what you get and the food selection is the same, although it was decent. I would have liked more to choose from. I prefer personalized meals rather than buffet all the time. You can choose to goto other restaurants nearby at adjacent hotel and on beach, I was told they were fantastic, never tried was contempt where I was extremely happy with the amazing beach and the sunset was incredible. The beach access is fantastic, however, walking up and down stairs from rooms is not great, I made it around. Everything is clean, however the beds are not soft, it felt like I was sleeping on a box spring instead of a mattress. That was the most negative thing I can say about property. The ability to access the beach quickly and easily outweighs the negative. The entire staff was very kind and very helpful and there were a few exceptional people. The kindness in Costa Rica is incredible . I can recommend it, especially if you want to easily reach the beach and swim in some amazing water.

Two different 1-night stays. One in the hotel building- very nice. the night at a condo studio unit was nice too but no hotel amenities like shampoo. Check in was easy. Pool quite nice. Bought the full board (3 buffet meals) which was a great value. But- when 2 others joined us it was about $56 US for a lunch buffet. NOT a good value at all. Great view. Either this place or neighbor Condovac needs to take better care of the beach. Driftwood, not groomed, no decent chairs. Just not nice. They could make some $ getting nice chairs and renting them. It is simply unstaffed and unimproved. We went to Hermosa instead.

One thing that I’m still confused and didn’t find as a good strategy for any hotel is that they had 2 bars and in front of each other, 1 where cocktails are included with your stay and the other one where you needed to pay for cocktails (which was empty most of the times because people won’t buy liquor when you’re giving it “for free” right there). It’ll be an excellent decision to make uniforms for the whole staff and not just a polo shirt, it really speaks volumes when you have cohesive looks for your staff and makes it more professional. There’s a lot of competition in the area where this hotel is located so they have to evolve and think outside the box very often. I also think they need to get rid of TVs in the rooms because that really distracts people and causing them not to participate in outdoor and hotel activities as much as they should, and staff members share information to the guests about activities they’re going to be having but people don’t go because they just lock theirselves in the rooms to watch TV.

We enjoyed our stay at Villas Sol. The staff was excellent. They were really friendly and helpful. By the end of the stay we were giving goodbye hugs to several of them. The rooms were clean, if not modern and spacious. This is a place where you want to spend your time outdoors enjoying the view and doing activities. Dining with a view of the ocean was a favorite. The pools and the resort activities were great. It's really hilly, but there is a shuttle that runs throughout the property if you're not up for walking. The other fantastic thing was we were less than a 10 min walk, or 3 minute drive via the shuttle to Playa Hermosa. The property offered various beach activities, including paddleboarding and kayaking, during the week. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time.
