Where to begin, please seemed really run down and old. Which is something I had read online but worse than I expected. The pool was absolutely disgusting with peeling paint on the floor and in the pool, I even have a photo of clump of dark hair holding itself onto the rope. For some reason, we got a handicapped room, which was sorely outdated. The entire place has this overwhelmingly smell of strong fragrance which more covers up the "old" smell. We had traveled all day and were pining for a snack and drink from the hotel lounge/bar/restaurant, but at 745-8pm on a Saturday night it was CLOSED up tight. There were loud banging sounds from water pipes coming from upstairs! 830am a dog was barking loudly from room next door. Overall, awful experience. We chose the hotel out of proximity to our next day colllege tour. It would have been worth driving an extra 30 minutes for a cleaner feeling place to lay our heads!

Our hotel key was handed to us wrapped in a piece of paper. When we went to find our room, we discovered that the area where our room was located was closed off, so we had to walk back to the front desk for directions. In the same hallway, there was a large dog in one of the rooms that was barking continuously. My husband is allergic to dogs, so this was concerning. There was also trash on the floor in the hallway. When we finally entered our room, we found it was dirty. The sheets were stained, the floors had not been cleaned, and the curtains were pulled unevenly to one side. Overall, the place was frankly a mess.

The best thing about this motel is the staff. The desk clerks were friendly and efficient, and provided warm and kind greetings. The breakfast was excellent with hot food and lots of choices. The person in charge of the breakfast room addressed me by my name the second day we were here! The pool is large, it's older but we still did a bit of waterwalking. If it had been a bit warmer, I would have enjoyed it more. Our room was not renovated, but it was quiet, clean, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed six nights while visiting family and the price was good.

There were several issues with the hotel, most of which were addressed by the owner based on a review I posted on Google. The one chronic problem was housekeeping not checking daily to resupply coffee, TP/tissue, empty trash. Their website states housekeeping checks rooms daily, but they don't, even after I complained. Renovated rooms are nice, staff is polite. Be aware there are busy train tracks behind the hotel that might wake you if you're not normally used to hearing them. Paid for my stay in advance which I regret doing as I was ready to change hotels on day 3.

Staff was wonderful. I’ve stayed at this hotel many times under different brands. It definitely is due for a refresh. I believe it was built @1974. Shelly at breakfast does a nice job. Location is good for my visits.
