The hotel was under construction, the television did not work, internet service was down for first few days, elevators went out twice, on day 3 no hot water There was NO INDICATION PROVIDED PRIOR TO BOOKING THAT THE HOTEL WAS UNDER COSTRUCTION/ Renovation. Noise started everyday at 6:30-7 am and went until 7pm! We had to have the buffet everyday. ALL RESTAURANTS FILLED EVERY DAY! No control over people reserving space at the beach or pool. Non guest at pool.

There was no hot water in the first 24 hours. Tv and telephones did not work. Telephone started working after I made a multiple complains. It was very noisy everyday starting 8 in the morning due to renovations. Elevators weren't working properly and steady.

They kept us awake, talking loudly in the hallways in front of our rooms from early on. The buffet didn't have enough food variety, and the waitresses took a long time to serve us. Daytime activities were limited to none, just music by the pool and very poor quality shows at night. The best thing was the spa, the first-class quality of the massages, and the phenomenal service.

I don’t write reviews almost ever, but felt I should to help others in decision of lodging if traveling soon. My husband and I stayed at the Riu Palace for 5 nights and were very happy with the food options and the kind and happy staff. However, immediately entering our room we noticed it had a stench of mildew and the beds were wet because of the humidity in the air. Luckily the front desk did supply a dehumidifier for the first night and offered to switch our room the next day. However, instead of fixing the room’s issue, they made it clear we had to be out by 11am the next morning so they could prepare the room for the next guest, which didn’t feel right. They also didn’t mention that the Riu Palace gym is closed (the roof caved in) so guests have to use the Riu Antilles gym (sister hotel). Which is fine but requires about a 10 minute walk. There are only two elevators for both guests and staff use (almost never both working) so waiting time is high. The most frustrating was the constant construction from 7:00am to 8:00pm across the ENTIRE hotel. You couldn’t go anywhere (beach, pool, your room, your balcony, the lobby, etc) without the sound of jackhammering. The elevator area of our floor was always full of construction material, painting, etc etc and constant noise. It was hard to rest in the room during the day because it was so noisy. We love Aruba and really aren’t very picky people, but our experience will probably lead us to not choose Riu Palace again.

If you are planning or have planned a trip here, cancel it! Cockroaches, no running water or hot water when they turn it on. Living out of porta potty because of no water. Limited dining. No air conditioning. Loud drilling noises in early AM. Had maintenance in our room middle of night. Challenges getting simple things like coffee, water or toilet paper. Staff was not good at managing expectations.

Everything was nice and everyone was very friendly the only thing I did not like is that I spent a lot of money and I couldn’t get any washcloths because the maid said they didn’t have enough to give. I was given hand towels that I had to use to shower with. This was very disappointing to me.

This Riu Palace property is in the midst of a major renovation so I was nervous about staying here. I will say that it is in a nice location as it is walking distance to bars, restaurants, etc. Also, its on the beach which was very nice. However, even though our room was in the newer construction building the elevators kept skipping floors and lurching (very scary!) so much so we gave up and took the stairs for the last 2 days of our stay. Thank goodness we were only on the 3rd floor. The food was mediocre (especially the vegetarian offerings). The gym was closed so we had to use the smaller Riu Antillas gym which was crowded because guests of that hotel were using it as well. Our shower only got hot twice during our stay and did not drain properly as water backed up covering our feet. We came back to the room one day after breakfast and the ceiling vent had fallen out and was on the floor. Our television had one channel that was stuck on the same frozen picture the entire stay and we were only able to find two other working channels. We also saw several roaches on the ground floors and in stairwell and one of our friends saw one in their room! The staff was lovely and friendly. However, I think the Riu Palace needs a little more work and TLC before I would stay here again or recommend to other travelers coming to Aruba.

Good afternoon. I would like to share my horrible experience at the Riu Hotel. Once again, Expedia fails to accurately advertise resorts. This is the second year in a row that I booked an all-inclusive resort through Expedia, and they did not mention that there was construction ongoing. This time, in Aruba, we decided to try a different island. Being outside the hurricane belt, we chose Riu Hotel, and despite it being the most expensive option, we thought it would be worth it to relax with our family of six, booking two rooms. However, when we arrived the next morning, we were greeted with construction noise from both ends of the buildings within the resort. We were located on the 5th floor, in rooms 1533 and 1534, and traveling with a three-year-old and a nine-month-old, we waited for the elevator for more than 20 minutes each morning because one elevator was out of service for most of the day. I don’t know if they were working on that elevator or if they needed to shut it down to power their machinery in the other buildings, but spending 20 minutes each time we needed to go up or down was nerve-wracking! We would have taken the stairs, but having a stroller made that impossible. The noise from 8 a.m. until 4 or 5 p.m. was unbearable, and there was also no hot water for the first three days. We took cold showers, which wasn’t an issue for the adults, but it was a nightmare for the children. I have pictures regarding the elevator issue and the lack of hot water!

This property is under full renovation / rehab. No hot water for 1st 2 nights of stay poor shower drainage. At least one out of tw0 of the elevators was out of service for duation of stay. Due to my complaints was moved from room 1822 (Jr. Suite) to room 275 on the "Time Share" side of property. Upon entering, room had not been cleaned had to put our luggage aside until housekeeping came to clean room before we could settle. Air conditioning in both rooms were not fuctioning properly as thermostat in rooms didn't control air. Its like they had temp pre set. Per hotel maintenance this was confirmed. Due to construction, crews struck and damaged cable antenna causing no t.v. for the duration of our stay (8-29-2025 through 7-1-2025). Construction and demo actively going on everyday of our stay except on Sunday. Per hotel own maintenance personel and I qoute, he states " this hotel has always had plumbing & A/C issues". Front desk staff is little to no help as it takes multiple complaints to get someone to your room. Like they just blow people off. This was my anniversary trip and it was completely ruined due to being uncomfortable the entire stay. Bookings should not be allowed here while this property is under construction

I had a really bad experience at RIU Palace Aruba and feel compelled to share the issues I faced during my stay: Check-in took over an hour, which was incredibly frustrating after a long trip. When I finally got to my room, it wasn’t even cleaned properly. I had to request a different room and go through the hassle of changing it. The towels provided were unclean and had noticeable stains. When I brought this up to housekeeping, they didn’t even apologize or offer a solution. Overall, the rooms were poorly cleaned, which was especially uncomfortable since I was traveling with a baby and cleanliness was a priority. The staff throughout the resort were mostly unapologetic, abrasive, and rude, even when I made the simplest requests. It felt like they were more interested in brushing me off than providing good service. There was constant construction noise all day, making it hard to relax. What’s worse, there was no prior notice or disclaimer about ongoing construction when I booked or arrived. The food options were disappointing as well – the quality was poor and the variety in the restaurants was very limited. Overall, I expected much more from a resort of this caliber. The combination of poor service, cleanliness issues, and lack of transparency about construction made this a very unpleasant stay. I wouldn’t recommend RIU Palace Aruba based on my experience and would definitely not go there again.
