Sitting directly on the path of Hadrian’s Wall, this sweet two bedroom, two bathroom property is a little slice of Northumbrian charm, with plenty of old-school character thrown in.
Deep in the very heart of Roman Wall country, this is a magical setting with big sky views
With its proud heritage and rich natural landscape, The Granary sits in a prime location near Matfen with fantastic views across rolling farmland to the hills beyond.
Tenderly restored using original Northumbrian stone, the charming exterior gives way to a warm, inviting interior which is a perfect nest for two, or a lovely haven for four.
Step into an open plan living space which feels immediately toasty, benefitting from underfloor heating supplied by an efficient ground source heat pump and a wood burning stove. The interior is decorated in soft hues and warming tweeds for a contemporary country twist and the well equipped kitchen has that all important wine cooler and a relaxed informal dining space. When the temperature starts to rise, a door leads into the large enclosed lawned garden with plenty of space for children or dogs.
Upstairs, the two bedrooms with en-suite bedrooms are impeccable and comfortable with high beamed ceilings which add an open, lofty feel.
For families or groups wishing to holiday together the adjoining Gingan (sleeps 8) can be let in conjunction with The Granary offering accommodation for up to 12 guests.
There is a shared games room with ping pong table and storage for bikes and outdoor gear adding a versatile space for wet-weather days, teenagers, or some evening entertainment for all.
