I’ll start with the staff are very friendly and welcoming and in terms of location to the A1 motorway it’s brilliant.
On a personal level I’m very tall and I’ve never been to a hotel before where I’ve had to duck my head or feel my head is touching the ceiling in parts of the hotel/room as much as I did staying here.
The room I had wasn’t great as on the small side and I had an issue with cleanliness in the room which I’ve reported to the hotel which are now looking into.
Overall I feel it’s a hotel that Holiday Inn need to update. It’s serviceable for a short stay but I’ve stayed in cheaper Travelodge’s that have bigger rooms and probably a better standard of hotel.
Our family room was clean and spacious. Staff were helpful. The breakfast provided a good variety of hot and cold food. The hotel is comfortable and welcoming. Excellent free car parking.
The location provides good access to Sunderland and Newcastle.

Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, comfortable room, value for money stay - will be back.
Wasn't happy with my stay. Bed was very uncomfortable. Our room was not cleaned, used towels still left in shower, when rang reception they gave me 2 clean towels but didn't take the used ones. Disappointed with the breakfast as wasn't cooked to order only buffet. Also the attitude of some of the staff was not good customer care.

Stayed here several times, great hotel, location and staff
Check in was great, gentleman was polite and helpful. Sofa bed in room not made up (was a late booking) lady came to make this up. Sofa bed not in the best condition, asked for extra pillows (daughter had 2 even at home) to be told we were only allowed one. Tried to call for room service no answer
