We greatly enjoyed our stay at San Carlos. As soon as we walked into the lobby we were greeted with friendly staff. Check in was easy and they held our bags while our room was getting ready. The room was very generously sized and extremely clean. Plenty of great restaurants and bars surround the property and the subway is just a block away. If you don't mind walking, you can be in Times Square in about 15 minutes or less. We will definitely be back! Hint - the hotel does help you secure airport transportation - cost is about the same as an Uber. Very convenient! P.S. Shout out to Andy who helped us secure ground transportation back to the airport!

Grateful for the location and attentive front desk staff. Nice to have a mini-fridge and microwave in the room. Robes were a nice touch. However the general condition of the property left something to be desired. Looked like it hadn't been updated since about 1990. Cracked and chipped tiles in the bathroom, popcorn ceilings, worn furniture, water damaged wallpaper. It was clean but not pristine, just overall needs an update.

Nice but dated

Staff and service were fantastic. However, for the price hotel is extremely dated and the condition of the room, especially the main bathroom, were disappointing.

The staff at the San Carlos was so friendly and helpful, from restaurant to laundry options. The location is great, with many subway stations around the corner, good dining nearby, but also very walkable to the center of Midtown. Loved our stay.

Room walls were very thin as we experienced our last night with very noisy guests next door having loud conversations and plying music from 4:15am until 5am. I actually called the front desk to complain and they did follow up but I understand I you can’t control drunk patrons. We were in room 408. The room itself was very spacious with free waters, a microwave, a fridge and very large king bed which was comfy. Some of the old designs/wear and tear of the room showed - cracks in the silicone on the base of the toilet and bathtub, loose wall outlets near the bed trying to plug electronics securely, noisy ac/fan unit (if left on throughout the night). The area itself (mid town east) was stacked with restaurants, shopping, bars and transit all in walking distance which was very convenient. All in all we probably would come back to this hotel as it checked most of the boxes
