Felt more like a kind of better motel, not a hotel

I expected New York City to be expensive, but I really expected for the price per night the rooms and bathrooms would be a little better quality and cleaner. It felt more like a motel.

This hotel was clean with spacious rooms. My room view was a brick wall, however this turned out to be an advantage as there was no street noise at night. I was able to walk to all the popular places I wanted to visit (Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, ect). Overall, a 3-4 star hotel…nothing fancy but clean with pleasant staff.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta. The staff was amazing and treated us very well. The manager Randy, Romeo and the employees there couldn’t have been more kind and helpful to my family and made our first time to New York City so incredibly special. What a special room and so many great recommendations from the crew over there. Breakfast was great and the location was central to everything. Nice part of town. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great for families! Thank you Sonesta staff

The service was good, and the room was pretty clean. That said, a few things couldn't be overlooked. The showers. Terrible. When turned on it would be immediately boiling with no cold. We had the hotel engineer in multiple times trying to make it not scorching hot, but even after he would leave it would get way too hot and unusable after a few minutes of using it. Nobody wanted to shower. We did not have conditioner virtually the whole time we were there, until the very last day when we asked, but being in our room 3x and never putting any conditioner in the empty bottle shows lack of attention. The TV had a Chromecast but again, we had the engineer in and it seemed the internet was not strong enough to use it, it kept erroring. So no streaming to the TV for us. And lastly the internet. Wasn't great. Location was great. Kitchen was handy. Beds were comfy. Overall, for the price an average stay.
