Across from Pemaquid Beach!
A one-bedroom wooded cabin behind Laughton House, in Pemaquid Village on Maine`s midcoast, across the road from Pemaquid Beach State Park. Cabin-style simplicity for couples who want their morning coffee in the woods and afternoons on the beach.
THE CABIN
One bedroom with king bed, full bathroom, and a separate living area with a small but full-featured kitchenette: four-burner gas stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, basic cookware and dishes.
OUTSIDE
A picnic table and lounge chairs. Your own propane BBQ grill. A fire pit shared with the other two cabins sits a few steps away, along with a hammock strung between trees.
WHAT`S WALKABLE
• Pemaquid Beach State Park (across the road, 0.2 mi)
• Mimi`s on the Beach for fish tacos at Pemaquid Beach (0.2 mi)
• Fort William Henry Colonial Fort (0.3 mi)
• Maine Kayak for kayaks and SUPs (0.4 mi)
SHORT DRIVE
Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (3.5 mi). Monhegan Island ferry from New Harbor (1.5 mi). C.E. Reilly & Son grocery (1 mi). Damariscotta (about 20 min) for Hannaford (a larger grocery store), oyster bars, restaurants, and shops. Boothbay Harbor (about 45 min) for the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and whale-watching.
Two of our own favorites are worth the drive: the wood-fired sauna and cold plunge at Waterstruck Wellness in Newcastle, and The Alna Store, one of The New York Times` 50 favorite restaurants in America in 2024.
THE PROPERTY
High Tide is one of three small cabins (Low Tide, Ebb Tide, High Tide) tucked in the woods behind Laughton House, the 4-bedroom main house on the property. Each cabin has its own picnic table, grill, and parking. The three cabins share a wooded area with a fire pit and a hammock.
ALSO ON SITE
Level 2 EV charger (shared with usage fee).
ADDITIONAL INFO
The cabin is uninsulated and seasonal, with two wall heaters (one in the bedroom, one in the living area) and a fan for your use but no central HVAC, and no in-cabin laundry. Unfortunately we`re not a pet-friendly property, but ADA service animals are welcome with advance notice, so please reach out before booking.
Thanks for staying with us. Please read these house rules before you arrive.
GUESTS AND VISITORS
- Maximum of 2 overnight guests. Infants under 2 don`t count, but please list them on your booking.
- You may have up to 2 day visitors at a time. Visitors must leave by 9 PM, can`t stay overnight, and can`t park on the property.
- No parties or events.
- No commercial photography.
NO SMOKING
- No smoking or vaping of any kind anywhere on the property, indoors or outside. A $250 smoking fee applies, plus the cost of any extra cleaning or repairs.
PETS
- No pets or emotional support animals.
- ADA service animals are always welcome, with no pet fee. Please let us know before you book, since the property is shared.
- If a pet is brought without our approval, a $500 fee applies, plus the cost of any extra cleaning, flea treatment or repairs.
QUIET HOURS
- Please keep noise down between 9 PM and 9 AM. Sound carries between the cabins and around the fire pit.
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
- Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM.
- Early check-in from 2:00 PM or late check-out until 12:00 PM is $40 each, when the schedule allows. Ask us by the day before and we`ll confirm in writing by 4:00 PM.
- Arriving early or staying past 10:00 AM without a confirmed request is charged $50 for each hour or part of an hour, with no charge within the first 15 minutes. If you`re still in the unit at 1:00 PM, or arrive before 1:00 PM, we charge one extra night instead, if that`s more.
PARKING
- Park only in the spot marked for High Tide. Wheelbarrows are near the parking area for your bags.
GRILL AND FIRE PIT
- Use your grill only where it sits. Clean it with the wire brush while it`s still hot and turn off the gas at the tank after each use. A $50 fee applies if it`s left dirty.
- The shared fire pit is the only place for a fire. Keep it small, never leave it unattended, and drown it with water before you leave it or go to bed. We don`t supply firewood, but C.E. Reilly & Son sells it.
FIRE SAFETY
- No candles, fireworks or other open flames indoors. Battery candles are fine.
- The fire extinguisher is in the entry hallway.
HEATING AND COOLING
- The wall heaters and extra blankets keep you cozy on cool nights. Please turn the heaters off when you leave the cabin.
- Fans are provided for warm days.
WATER AND SEPTIC
- The property runs on a well that can run low in late summer, so please go easy on water. The showers at Pemaquid Beach are a great way to rinse off.
- Please flush only toilet paper. No wipes, even `flushable` ones, and no feminine products.
TRASH
- Put full bags in the bins next to the shed, never on the ground next to them.
- If we have to take trash to the transfer station because it was left outside or next to full bins, a $50 fee applies for each trip.
BEFORE YOU LEAVE
- Please wash and put away your dishes. A $50 fee applies if dishes are left dirty.
- If you can, strip the bed (leave the mattress protector on) and put the sheets and pillowcases into one pillowcase. No worries if not.
- Put your used towels in the laundry basket.
CAMERAS
- There are no cameras inside any unit. Two exterior security cameras on the front of the main house cover the driveway and parking areas.
DAMAGE HOLD
- For direct and VRBO bookings, we place a $250 hold on your card about a day before checkout. If all is well, it`s released automatically, usually within about 7 days.
Direct and VRBO guests also sign a rental agreement with the full details.
