We could not have picked a better place to stay. It was adjacent to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve--we would just walk down the road for 5 minutes to get there. And the shuttle returning people from the Park to the parking lot passed right by the hotel and would always drop us off at the front, saving us the walk back. Breakfast was super, staff was so friendly and service so good. They had a sign board in reception listing all the activities in the area, such as horseback riding, zip lining, night hikes, etc, and they would arrange those for us, giving us ideas of the when the best times were. Jorge at reception planned all our activities--so efficient and had good insight. Great views from the room. Lovely sitting areas set up in the hotel--it was nice to sit in the garden surrounded by flowers with the rainforest in the background/

Great lodge, great location, great views

Great lodge near the Monte Verde Reserve. This is one of the lodges highest up the road, about 1 km below the reserve. Great views across the valley. Very nice lodge. Room was in great condition, beds are comfortable, everything was clean. Breakfast is very nice. Staff is very helpful.

Beautiful Stay in Monteverde

Aloha! We were kindly greeted by Esteban at the front desk. We booked a room with a mountain view and it did not disappoint. Our room was clean and comfortable. There was not a fridge in the room but the front desk will store them in the restaurant refrigerator if you would like. Though it was remotely located the place offered everything we needed including amazing food at the restaurant. We had breakfast daily, lunch and 2 dinner on 2 occasions. Our compliments to the chefs Patricia and Merlin. Jason and Alejandro provided excellent service. The hotel was within walking distance for ticket and transportation to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The hotel offers a shuttle to town every hour, until 1:30 pm, for $2 USD each. The last shuttle from town to the hotel is at 2 pm. The hotel can call a taxi, if needed, for $12 USD one way. In town you can find a taxi in front of the church. We highly recommend Trapp Family Hotel in Monteverde. Pura Vida! Mahalo! L and L Travels with Aloha

This property was FULL of bugs!! I understand we were in a mountain location, but there were massive spider webs in all the window openings, flies and roaches EVERYWHERE, spiders on the bed (multiple times), the floors in our room look as if they hadn't been vacuumed in months. There is no privacy as in we could hear our neighbors conversations. There is no A/C or heating at all. Views are beautiful and the breakfast area was nice and clean, but the rooms themselves could use an overhaul and updating for sure!

Our six night-stay was delightful. The lodge is superb. Access to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a 10-minute walk away. Our room was delightful with a grand view of valleys and mountains and tropical plants on the property. We ate breakfast and dinner at the lodge restuarant. Breakfast was outstanding, and the dinner menu was extensive. Every dinner was delicious and expertly prepared.

Horrible experience - NOT family friendly!!

Horrible experience. Rooms were old/outdated and ours was full of bugs. Staff was beyond rude and creepy - actively monitored our children. This hotel is NOT kid friendly despite the name of the hotel. Families should not stay here! Far from anything to do, moldy rooms, incredibly rude/invasive hotel staff. Only windows in the rooms face the walkway so you have zero privacy.

Great hotel for a great price. One of the few hotels I’ve stayed in where the pictures do not do it justice, the view from our mountain suite was amazing. The room was clean, spacious, and secure. The room doesn’t have A/C which threw us off at first but this is typical for the area as the cool mountain wind was more than enough for a comfortable stay with the windows cracked. The area around the hotel is surrounded by forest so it was extremely quiet and relaxing, calm enough even to see some wildlife roaming freely through the property. The overall decor of the room and common areas was extremely beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, specifically the gentleman at the front desk and the gentleman that kept the bar in the evening and served us breakfast in the morning. I can’t recommend this place enough. We wished we had time to stay here longer but we will definitely be back!
