Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
I really like the Big Sur area. My first time staying here. So cool to sleep in the Redwoods.
Hotel needs to buy some pads for the beds.
Like a lucid or something.
Very uncomfortable bed.
Big Sur Rustic Sheik? The front of the log was updated and the entrance was attractive. The rest of the property, the cabins and cafeteria reminded me of 6 grade science camp at Palimar Mountain, San Diego. Which I attended 50 years ago.
The coffee place had the same pastries, plural only because there were more than one of the one type available. After all were sold, after multiple days, nothing else arrived. I get it, its a cabin in Big Sur, but put in some laminent floors, brighten up the rooms. Don't make me homesick on my adult vacation.
We absolutely loved this property and will be back! Staff is so friendly. The restaurant on site was great, and the gift shop had the cutest gifts and so many other items we needed for our stay. The property does feel a bit dated and so did not feel the cleanest, but we loved it regardless! Absolutely gorgeous property!
The cabin was lovely, and the location excellent, but as other reviewers say the food is mediocre, and much better to eat down the road at Fernwood. They may be even a better place to stay overall for the price.
Great place to stay with many things to do nearby. But be advised that WiFi does not reach the rooms and there are also no tvs and absolutely no signal anywhere near the property. It was a lot more remote than we expected so we were not prepared for this. But it is a great place to stay if you are looking to disconnect and be surrounded by nature.
Nice and spacious rooms and lovely pool. We lucked out with super weather. The one bummer was limited cell/wifi reception (not available in our rooms which was unexpected)
Super location very quiet easy access to the glory of big Sur
It's a great place to stay since it is situated in the beautiful Julia Pfeiffer State Park. The cabins are comfortable and well maintained. Our stay he allowed us access to other parks in the area free of charge.
“Conference” room very misrepresented. It’s trash. Dirty, messy, no ping pong balls to play. All 4 electric fireplaces don’t work. Keep looking and stay some place else that’s close to Pfeiffer state park bc that part was the BEST!!
I had a wonderful stay at the Big Sur Lodge. The location is unbeatable—right inside the park with direct access to trails, which makes exploring incredibly easy. The lodge offers great, simple amenities that make time in the park enjoyable without taking away from the natural experience.
One of my favorite features was the outdoor patio with a bar—perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. The atmosphere is quiet and safe, and the staff were fantastic. A special shoutout to Mya, who was especially friendly and welcoming.
If you’re visiting Big Sur and not camping, this is truly an amazing option to stay—comfortable, convenient, and immersed in nature.
