Our stay at the Malaga Inn was wonderful. We eloped to Mobile and checked in for our first night - our room was not what I expected after viewing photos online. The next morning we mentioned to the lady that checked us in that we were getting married and she upgraded our stay to the 007 Suite. It was wonderful. Our daughters joined us and stayed in 218 and also enjoyed their rooms. Brian and Kathy made our stay special, allowed us to have a small cake reception for 4 people in the courtyard, and provided us suggestions of places on the property to take photos. The property is dated, the elevator was not working, but this Inn has loads of charm, the rooms were clean, the staff we met were nothing short of a delight. We will stay again.
The courtyard is cute and location is great. The whole place is a little worse for wear but they try hard and at least it is t a boring, generic chain. Manager / cleaner is a lovely woman who seems like she’d break a leg to help you in any way.
VERY disappointed that I booked this hotel. It is VERY run down. Peeling paint, old linens, no smoke alarm, curtains frayed and falling off rod, courtyard a mess. Old, beat up furniture. Also charged $7.95 for using credit card (service charge??) but could not check in without a credit card. No way to contact front desk and most of the time no one there. Very disappointed that Expedia listed it!!!
Positives:
knowledgeable, accommodating, kind, and friendly staff, nice courtyard, comfortable bed, good shower, beautiful historic hotel
Negatives:
Issues with the television/remote, cleanliness of bathroom and rug, slow drainage in bathroom sink:(
I loved this historic boutique hotel! Our room was very original to the Southern mansion built in the 1860s. The 4-poster beds were very comfortable! The courtyard is very pretty and serene. I will definitely stay here again!

Disliked: Amenities
Dirty no tv hair in my shower staff was great a lot of history but not what the pics make it seem
The guy working the front desk was super friendly and helpful the room itself was gorgeous and the A/C worked better than expected. My only complain is that the room we were in (historic king) had a thin door with the bed being right by it and there were people coming through and slamming the court yard door right outside the room starting very early in the morning
We had a corner room in the courtyard. We loved it. Was so quiet. Cathy was so great to help us out. Giving directions and answering questions. My friend left her wallet and Cathy was so kind to go look for it when we called. She found it just outside our room and kept it until we could get back to pick it up. Highly recommend
Our stay was absolutely amazing!!! The onsite Manager felt like family by the end of our stay. She went over and beyond for us. Our stay definitely felt like we were in a different time era. The hotel is well preserved with so much history to learn about. We will definitely stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay at Malaga Inn. The owner was so friendly and helpful. The Inn itself, while the buildings date back to 1860s and hotel dates back to 1960s, they clearly have done updates to add modern comforts.
The property located in a nice quiet and yet convenient neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is good hotel to stay for transitting from Mobile to New Orleans by train.
Best hospitality we’ve ever received. The owners and staff are just amazing. We love the charm of the Magala and it will always be our go to stay in Mobile.
We absolutely love this place. The owners are amazing and so helpful. They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is the best. This is now our “go to” hotel whenever we make a trip down to visit our daughter at college. The hotel is old but that is part of the charm of it and why we enjoy it. We love that’s it’s close enough to walk to nearby restaurants but not in the middle of the hustle bustle of everything. Sheets, towels, and rooms are always clean. Only small thing that would be a great improvement would be some newer mattresses and some work on the walkways on the 2nd and 3rd floors. And maybe a drink machine. Other than that, I have no other complaints. We love the Malaga and will be back every time they have availability on our trips down south.
