"This place was exactly what we were looking for. It’s not a “roughing it” cabin by any means. A large open living room/kitchen area with comfortable new furniture and all the furnishings we needed. Plenty of dishes and utensils in the kitchen. It’s in an incredibly peaceful and quiet river valley, with views across the alfalfa field of the surrounding mountains from the porch. The porch itself is expansive. It provides plenty of shelter from both sun and rain. Beautiful stone floor on the porch and in the bedroom as well. The bedroom itself is on the small side, but that didn’t matter to us. We found the queen bed very comfortable. We happened to be there on a cool, rainy weekend. We loved the sound of the rain on the tin roof.
An easy drive to hiking trails of the Sheep Rock Unit of John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Also just a couple miles drive to Thomas Orchards where you can buy fresh produce in season.
Sarah, the host, responded quickly when we contacted her before our stay with a couple questions. She warns visitors that there’s no cell reception at the cabin; that might be true much of the time, but we did have service (Verizon) while we stayed. The wifi isn’t the fastest but it does work.
Highly recommend this cabin!"
