Come visit our spacious brick, one-level beach house "Starfish Cottage" in 'Paradise Retreat'. Just a short stroll takes you straight to the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We are located in the Paradise Retreat community which offers private beach access. We hope you will make yourself at home in this four-bedroom, two full bath home which is dressed in a nautical fashion in appreciation of the coastal lifestyle and in celebration of the beautiful, delicate sea creature, the starfish. Plenty of space for multiple families!

We offer a heated private swimming pool as an option ($350.00 plus tax) during cold nights - no you do not have to share with a community! Or an entire condominium! It is all yours.

****NEW ADDITION: We have added a new option for you to rent a luxury GOLF CART to make your stay here at the Starfish Cottage more convenient and to provide a fun way to go to and from the beach! Mention in your booking whether or not you would be interested in renting a golf cart, and for an additional fee of ($450.00 plus tax) we'll have the cart at the house ready-to-go! The master bedroom is private and features its own large bath, a walk-in closet, beautifully furnished, king-size bedding, flat screen TV.

The large great room is sunny & bright with natural sunlight, a large sectional sofa which has a queen sleeper for those extra friends! Plenty of seating, flat screen TV, you can sit & enjoy the pool view from the great room.

The second adult bedroom is cool and inviting with a nostalgic theme for starfish original art, flat screen TV.

Lovely home in a nice gated community. Minutes from the beach. Pool was accomodating for four adults. Nice furnished patio. Garage held pool floats and beach supplies. Very nice surprise. Kitchen was fully stocked with cookware. a ancrockpot.

Excellent Stay!

My entire family came to stay at the Starfish. The house had plenty of room to move around and eat during meals. We had a crawling 10 month old and the house was even prepared for her. Outlets were covered and all plugs and wires were tucked away and hidden. Any questions or concerns we had were answered right away. The house was close to the beach. We did enjoy the golf cart since we had multiple family members and items that could be dropped off right at the entry to the beach with no problems. As mentioned in previous reviews, the pool was a little smaller than normal but we enjoyed it either way. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Rosemary for being a great host!

It was a great place. The location was perfect. The golf cart made going to the beach a breeze. The house was very clean. The pool was great for my granddaughter. The tanning ledge was the right depth for her. Definitely gonna book again!!!!!

Spring break 2024

Great location close to the beach in a quiet neighborhood. The golf cart was perfect for just going to the beach if you want to cruise the neighborhood and take it to dinners I would suggest getting something a little more comfortable and something that is gas powered the pool was perfect, the house was comfortable would definitely stay here again. Rosemary was quick to answer any questions and resolve any issues that I had.

Family vacation

We had a great stay. The house was very convenient to shopping, restaurants and the beach. House was in a quiet neighborhood. We rented the golf cart but only used it 2 days because it was to hard for us to turn the steering wheel. So it really wasn’t worth the extra money we paid for the golf cart. Our trip was very enjoyable.

Miramar Beach

We enjoyed our stay very much! The house is very clean and was perfect for our needs. We appreciated the little extras like a small bottle of dish soap, several dishwasher tablets, several laundry pods, and small shampoo conditioner and soap in each bathroom. Also a scrubber sponge at the sink. There were several rolls of toilet paper also. The extra refrigerator in the garage is a wonderful extra! We were able to keep our drinks cold out there and keep the fridge inside for our food! Plus when loading up an ice chest to go to the beach it was nice just to be able to do that in the garage! We enjoyed the pool. It’s not an enormous pool, but it was enough for us to be able lounge around and hang out and visit! The neighborhood is cute and it’s really not a far walk from the beach. We rented the golf cart and usually drove it and parked it and walked the short distance from where we parked. The beach was pretty and the complementary umbrella and two chairs was a nice benefit of renting this home! The owner was very nice and communicated well and we literally had no problems! We would definitely stay there again! Also, the house is really pretty big! There were eight of us and we were never on top of each other! There’s two living room areas and lots of space to eat ! We enjoyed the house very much!

Not meant for families and children

The beach access is far from the house in my opinion. Even if you drive a golf cart down there is no parking at your private access. Still have to walk a good bit and carry all your items. When taking kids that’s a lot of items! Kitchen was not stocked well with silverware. Some nights we would have to wash a fork when someone was down for another to use it. Our occupancy was 8. Getting in and out of the gates to the house was a pain. The driveway only fit two cars comfortably. We had to squish the cars in and still hung on the sidewalk some. Which is not allowed. We had two small cars and one small suv. Even if you rent the golf cart you have to pull all the cars in and out all day to be able to park it in the garage. We had an issue with the golf cart. Which happens! After the hassle of even using it just the one day we decided to get our money back. No where else to park it but in the garage. And no way in the garage without moving cars. Cars are not allowed in the garage. The air went out in the house for a day in a half and was fixed as promptly as could be. Things happen. But, this house was not convenient for our family at all.

Great family trip

The house was just as described. The pool is small but I expected that after reading reviews. Short walk or drive on the golf cart to the beach. The rooms were perfect size. Kitchen is not well stocked, but it wasn't a huge deal we made it work for the meals we cooked. We had a really nice stay.

***Heartless homeowner******* BEWARE

WHERE DO I START! Before I rented this home communication was amazing for obvious reasons! The owner just wanted the money! The POOL IS SO SMALL! I have a 2 year old and the pool is right out the back door (2feet if that) The pool rail was lose and coming out from the ground, my 57 year old mother tried to use the rail and she slipped in the pool causing injury, The neglect of the homeowner was the cause of this. We have since hired a lawyer. There is signs everywhere if you forget to do anything it’s a fine! This is supposed to be a vacation, tread carefully at this home or you will be fined for anything you do. After the injury’s in the pool a message was sent to the homeowner SHE IS CARELESS & heartless not even a sorry! Or how can I help! We checked out a day early and no REFUND!!!! I have since contacted VRBO customer service and opened a complaint, for negligence on the property owners. DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I will fight to have this home removed from VRBO SO NO OTHER FAMILYS GO THROUGH THIS!

Like others have said the property was clean and we had somewhat short walks to the beach. There were plenty of beach/pool toys in the garage, and everything worked. The pool is small but my 4 kids were able to have fun in it. This was our first trip since covid-19 hit. I think it was a great choice. Thanks.

Great vacation

Rosemary and Angela were great. We had a very nice time. The house and pool were perfect for the two of us even though we didn’t need/use all the bed rooms. This was one of the cleanest homes we’ve stayed in and we use VRBO a lot.

Family vacation 2021

First time to Destin, house was clean and check in was fast and easy. We had some trouble with our golf cart and the property manager addressed it immediately and got us a new one right away. Good family vacation! Destin is beautiful!
