Quiet and secluded location, clean room, friendly staff, and great food
The Hotel is set in such a peaceful position overlooking the harbour. You must try the Pizza from their own wood burning pizza oven, sit with a pint and a pizza enjoying the tranquil view.
The staff are brilliant and the service superb.
Excellent hotel in an excellent position overlooking the harbour. Food was excellent especially the breakfast. Will definitely look to stay again. The only downside is parking if you arrive on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon as the hotel shares the local car park, it can get very busy so you may have problems parking when you arrive.
We had the most wonderful stay and really wish we could have stayed longer, we didnât want to leave! The most beautiful view to wake up to every morning, gorgeous pub next door, yummy food and the friendliest people - we canât wait to come back!
Lovely hotel, would stay again, the only gripe I had was that the service in the restaurant lacked attention, quite slow and no one checking how you were or if you needed more drinks etc.
Beautiful location. Very dog friendly. We had a king size room overlooking the harbour. It was up a few flights of stairs but this was not an issue for us. Use of guest pantry which was a lovely touch. Very good breakfast menu. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
hello very nice stay lovely staff i think i would pick a front bedroom if we went back the main menu very good but no steaks not a lot of chicken choice service a one bed room clean but a bit small i have a little moan regarding dogs in hotel dont get me wrong i love dogs but i not in bedrooms were other s have to stay as dogs do give off some smells i think we would return
Only one Malt Whiskey, Only one Cognac, Manager did not seem interested in our desire for choice; I have a better bar at home. Pretentious thogh tasty food. Small drab room with depresssing colour scheme, bare walls ~ no pictures.
We have enjoyed several stays at this hotel in the past, but clearly this time the hotel was having major staffing problems along with showing major signs of wear and tear.
Our room though cozy had an easy chair that I sat in and needed to get my partner to pull me out as the springs are totally gone; the chairs in the dining room were in a similar state.
We were with our friends so we were a group of eight people and had major problems with dinners in the dining room and sent food back several times.
There were also issues with the person on the front desk as they were obviously inebriated with alcohol.
The whole experience made me very sad as weâve had such wonderful times there in the past; hopefully they can take this feedback and get the hotel back up to the level. It needs to be to be competitive with all of the hostelries in the area.
Had an excellent stay at The Porlock Weir Hotel. The hotel, formerly The Anchor, is under new management and has totally had a new lease of life. The decor is fresh, clean and âboutiqueâmodern. Obviously the setting is to die for with beautiful harbour view rooms. Food was excellent too. The land dish I had was cooked to perfection and my partner really enjoyed his ravioli. Breakfast was also excellent. I recommend the haddock scotch egg. We had our dog with us and he was very welcome, the hotel setting us tables slightly away from the main dining room for comfort. After a walk around the harbour and to the headland we sat on the decked terrace where lots of walkers were enjoying a drink and the freshly made pizzas straight from their outdoor pizza oven. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm. There is also a lovely kitchen for the use of guests to make tea and coffee with complimentary fruit and mineral water. We all really loved this place, including the dog(!) and we will be going back very soon hopefully. Please note there is still some work ongoing in some parts of the hotel but this was of no inconvenience nor did it affect our stay in anyway (the doors only open end again in April). This is a really lovely place with a relaxed luxury feel.
