Warm, friendly & efficient welcome. Nice lounge area for guests. The bedroom was a little dated but the size was ok & the bed was comfy. Bathroom was old, very small & smelt fusty, it might have been the drains, you could smell it in the bedroom a bit when you walked in. Understand that you can have thses issues with older hotels & it didn't spoil our stay. Breakfast at the pub across the road was good.

The provision of a coffee machine/ drinks being available on the hotel side at the seating area or maybe a way of ordering drinks to be served as we didn’t want to keep crossing the main road to bring drinks back.

Friendly receptionist

Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the down side is the road noise till late at night and early morning. Bed was right next to windowsill so watched traffic go by so that didn’t help.

The staff make the Bell - we were warmly welcomed on checking in, and bar/restaurant service was friendly and efficient too. The room and dinner were both good value and good quality. We’ll look out for Greene King inns on future trips, as this was a very good and enjoyable experience all round.

The bathroom was dirty, the shower was barely a dribble and could not hold a constant temperature. The bathroom smelt musty and made the bedroom smell horrible. The rooms desperately need updating, I know the building is very old but they need to invest because, for what they charge a night, they are not giving value for money at all.

Lady on reception was friendly and very helpful. Room was clean but tired and very basic. Ok for one night stopover, although lots of stairs which would not suit everyone (a ground floor room is available). The restaurant is across the road. Ok for a beer but there are better places to eat within walking distance
